"We wanted a lunch venue near to the hospital where my wife had an appointment early afternoon. Ca Pio was the nearest venue with a menu diario and it proved to be well above expectations. At 8.50€ we were served by a friendly waiter an excellent salad in the event more than we could actually manage, a paella de verduras for me and mixta for my wife, both good then merluza which my wife said tasted as if caught that morning served with chips and courgette, aubergine, italian pepper and asparagus garnish. For postre we had a wonderfully sticky chocolate cake with chocolate sauce. The coffee we had was extra, but the bill was still under 20€, and it was barely a 5 minute walk to the hospital; excellent value."

This delightful typically Spanish restaurant has a great menu del diablo, with a very good choice of food. It is very popular so I would recommend booking. Well worth a visit.

"We made a reseervation a week in advance and were told it had to be on the terrace (sidewalk of a busy street) Inside was set aside for large groups. We paid almost 80 Euros for lunch for 2 and the only good things were the wine (our choice) and the tomato salad. At their suggestion we ordered cigalas for 2 (8.50 each) and an entrecote. I asked for the chuleton Gallego but the manager said it was not good saying it was tough and full of nerves. The entecote wasa tough and full of nerves. Probably he needed the chuleton for the guests inside. I ate less than half, having tio cut into small pieces before giving up. The cigalas were an insult, very small and flaverless . We ordered setas (mushrooms) a la plancha (8 euros), having seen the the tables on either side order them. We received something quite different. One forest mushroom with longaniza, which just didn't taste good. I told the waiter at the end that we were dissappointed but he just wanted to get paid. We should have known that we would be treated as second class customers when they insisted on giving us English language menus, despite speaking in perfect Spanish. They also charged 3 for bread (to be expected, but on top of that another 4 for 2 appetizers we didnt order (peanuts and 2 smal slices of cheese and fuet sausage. The adjoining table didn't receive these special treats. Shame on them!!! Probably ok if you go with a group of locals, but they took advantage of us.
