This is a beautiful spot. Stopped for breakfast which was awesome and sat admiring the fantastic view. Dogs welcome on outside tables. Really friendly staff, tasty food and great cakes. Highly recommended

Nice little cafe with great views of Tayvallich harbour. However, you are paying for the view really. Over £20 for 2 cheese and bacon toasties and 2 cans of coke is too expensive even with the view. So only gets an average score therefore

The cafe is situated in a lovely location, but that's about the only positive aspect. The staff appear to struggle during busy periods, and we had to wait a long time for a weak hot chocolate. They are fortunate to be the only option in town.

We enjoyed the quaint general store and the beautiful view from the cafe's terrace. The soup and bread we had for lunch were delicious, though on the pricey side, which is typical for remote locations like this. The staff was welcoming and attentive. View menu

A very nice setting at side of harbour, you can sit in or out very pleasant looking out to harbour with all the yachts moored up, whilst you sip your coffee. Food as well a good selection. Went in to shop as well for a few supplies all reasonably priced all good.

Staff are unsmiling and ignore you, service is incredibly slow, I appreciate it’s not fast food but 50 mins to get 2 toasting seems a tad extreme. Coffees served way before food so weee cold by the time the food eventually arrived. Poor. Sour faced staff don’t make for a pleasant lunch.

This cafe is good and serves nice food with one the best views around over the bay. However, I have been going to the cafe for years and it is now just good whereas it used be fantastic. The menu is more limited although nice and the patio has lost the hanging baskets etc that made it look special. View menu

This small general store is fantastic, with carefully displayed produce and friendly owners. The attached coffee shop has an amazing view, but we were slightly let down by the food and service not meeting previous exceptional standards. However, it is still a hidden gem and we hope it regains its charm because we really love it.

I suspect the only reason they’re still there is the monopoly they have! I was there on holiday in the village and popped up for a coffee and bacon butty! Yes the setting is nice but it’s phenomenally expensive for a badly made coffee (heat milk for longer guys) and a dry and average bacon butty. The staff really don’t come across as enjoying themselves at all!

"On our last day here, killing time before the ferry, decided to try luncheon here. No expectations either way. And we were TOTALLY wowed it was just excellent. Trying not to put too many superlatives in this review, but it was really, really ace. We had a lovely table by the window overlooking the harbour where you could see dog walkers, children in wellies, crabbing, and little boats coming and going. Classic Islay. Then I have to mention the food. Jeez, it was top notch, and huuuuuuuge portions. I don’t think we’ve ever had four such consistently generous and fulfilling portions before. We had the scallops (massive, juicy, plentiful , the Crofter’s Platter, which was cheeses, hams, sausage rolls, salad, bread, chutneys; the soup massive bowl, loadsa crispy sourdough bread, and the fish and chips which was so big it draped over the plate! All delicious. Our guy, Andrew, was superb, so attentive and smiley and always bringing us more things, spoons, drinks, more bread, spoons, he was great. And we had a lovely chat with the very friendly and nice proprietor. She was wonderful. Really seemed to care about the place and her team. She told us all about the hotel and stuff it was really cool. We will most certainly come back here next time. You can’t necessarily get the best table every time, but we won’t mind if we don’t! : Oh, also, lovely clean loos!"
