"I wouldn’t come here again.. As my first time in Danbury, there wasn’t much options of places to eat. I’d walked in here in hope of having something for brunch, and seeing it attached and working aside the deli, expected decent dishes. The place looked run down. I’m assuming it was suppose to be a vintage style tea room, but it needs a deep clean, some redecorating, love and attention. Don’t get me wrong, the Lady was friendly who served me, but she was either busy doing something on her computer or round the back in the kitchen, having a conversation with another member of staff, loud enough for the few customers in the front to hear, about someone who was asking general questions about the place and probably wasn’t satisfied either. I was close to just walking out without paying, but had the decency to pop my head round and ask to pay. So attention to customers is needed, checking to see if they need anything. I had eggs Benedict and a mocha. I wouldn’t say the meal was worth 8.95. The eggs looked sad. Taste wise, it was okay but it wasn’t wow. The presentation could of been much better, and again, not sure if it’s suppose to be vintage related, but just plain white plates would have been better. I know it was miserable outside which didn’t help, but the lighting and brightness was dark. Cobwebs and rested dust on lights, overhead fan, windowsills and other places. Floor needed a good sweep and tables needed cleaning. It wasn’t exactly busy so one of the ladies could have swept and cleaned the tables as soon as people left. Most of the chairs were stained, the wallpaper shows wear and tear, and the bathroom tiling looked unpleasant. Toilet sign needed and lock on the bathroom cupboard, as bleach was hanging out. Deep clean and air freshener needed."

The food was average, what should have been hot was cold. The tables outside have seen better days and the little table and chairs are unsuitable for (shall we say bigger people) and the elderly. We were very disappointed. Back to copper kettle house.

fancied a treat so got the bus here but were told that they were too busy for us as they had a big booking, there is no where else to go in danbury so we had to just get the next bus home an hour later, a r waste of a journey and the 10 pound bus fare!

Despite a drop of rain, with the clever addition of cabins a fantastic afternoon was enjoyed by the family tucking in to well filled sandwiches, mouthwatering quiches and truly “may I have another” jam and cream scones, served by friendly and efficient waitresses

First time back since pre pandemic. Used to visit here regularly and always had a good experience with current owners and long time previous owners. Booked table 45 mins b4 on a Saturday lunch time (unlike a few others in the area who won 't take bookings 'because of school holidays

What an amazing afternoon tea we had in the lovely decorated Cabins for my friends 50th Birthday . Kelly and her staff were so attentive . The sandwiches and freshly baked cakes and scones were delicious . Plenty of tea refills and a nice bottle of Prosecco . Would thoroughly recommend a visit .

Popped in for lunch with the wife. Had to be quick to get a table due to the popularity of the venue. Nice and clean and the staff were great. The food was fantastic, but tea overpriced. The food looks exactly the same in real life as in the social media pictures. We will be going back in the warmer days so we can use the outside tables.

We always stop here for coffee on our once in a while day out in Maldon. We can park right outside and enjoy the sunshine sitting at one of the outside tables, this time with our newly adopted doggie. The staff are friendly, the cakes are good, and the setting is lovely, overlooking a duck pond at the heart of an elongated village. A perfect stop- we'll be back again soon...

The service in this cafe has gone downhill terribly. The last time I visited with my mum, we were left at the door for 10 mins before being asked to sit down, and greeted with a less than great attitude when we finally tried to get someone’s attention. Today we were sitting for 15 minutes being ignored by staff, without even being asked if we wanted a drink. This time we just walked out and will give our money/business to people who actually want it. Such a shame, as we have been long term supporters of this local business including throughout Covid.

We live in Chelmsford and we often drive pass and thought we would go in for a cooked breakfast. There was no one else in the cafe and we gave our order. First the plus points, the tea and coffee were nice and hot, the food arrived quickly, a bit too quickly in my opinion. Now the not so good points. The area was a bit grubby, our table still had the remnants of ketchup or something and the place required freshening up. The plates were cold and the food was warm and went cold very quickly. The only items that were hot were the sausages, but, they were hard and crinkled, my suspicions are that they were left over sausages that had been microwaved. Very expensive for what was offered and not v...

"I was appalled at the quality of service from the moment I arrived to the moment I left, which was about When I arrived I was not asked if I would like a drink, and I wasn't asked throughout the whole meal. The waitress should have seen on the table that we only had tap water, and asked whether we'd like another drink. Then, we ordered our first round of hot food. I pressed the help button and after waiting for a good minutes for the waitress finally arrived. I felt it was too long. At this point in the evening there were three full tables in the whole restaurant so I thought the amount of time we had to wait was poor. Then the food started coming over, but the food didn't come altogether. A couple of dishes came and then a few more and a few more after that. This meant we didn't all eat together, we ate all at different times. I had ordered two dishes to eat at the same time and they didn't arrive at the same time. Very disappointing. The third order of hot food was beyond a joke. It was clear that one of the two waitress wasn't feeling very well (I overheard one of the chef's telling her to go home). She was our waitress. So, we ordered the third round of hot food. minutes later we still didn't have our food. In this time the chef was talking to the ill waitress. I then pressed the help button and I explained that we'd ordered some food and had been waiting a rather long time. I then look round at the waitress and chef and it was absolutely clear that the order didn't go through so it was only then that the food was starting to be cooked. The waitress who took the order explained that there's been lots of issues and she was sorry. As a customer paying for a meal, I don't care about the issues, I still expected good service and my food to turn up. Overall I thought the service was absolutely terrible. I will not be visiting this restaurant again and I will not be recommending the restaurant to anyone."
