"After visiting the farm shop, we decided to stop by for a quick coffee at The Barnyard. We were seated promptly and decided to order some food after seeing how delicious it looked on other tables. We ordered a Bacon sandwich on granary bread and 2 poached eggs on granary toast. The service was quick and the staff were attentive and polite. The sandwich was fresh and filled with thick slices of delicious bacon. The poached eggs were outstanding, with a perfectly cooked yolk on top of buttery toast, adorned with pea shoots and cherry tomatoes. We were also impressed with the quick service of our Latte and Americano, which arrived piping hot. The Barnyard is spotlessly clean and we felt safe with their Covid safety measures in place. We highly recommend The Barnyard and regret not visiting sooner. Don't miss out on this gem of a restaurant!"

Went for lunch and ordered a Jacket Potato costing £7.00. I was so SMALL it was a joke !!!’ About the size of a lemon. How they can charge £7.00 for that is disgusting. So if your hungry do NOT order a Jacket

Had a couplse of toasties the other day when shopping at the farmshop. They were very good and used bread sold in the shop, a tasty wholemeal. Seems to be a popular meeting place for mothers with young children, nice play area for the kids.

First visit but wow it wont be the last. Vanilla Latte was best for some time plus Coffee and Walnut cake was to die for, very fresh. We didnt have much time, only a flying visit but will certainly return for full meal. Great selection. Very friendly staff. 10/10 View menu

What a tasty breakfast! Full English, delicious sausage and bacon and poached eggs on point! Really tasty and good value at £7.50. By the time we left, lunch was being served and some of the salads looked so good that I wanted to stay and try one except I was too full!

The food hall is a good place to shop as it has a range of foodstuff you don't normally see in supermarkets. It is pleasant after shopping to go and have a coffee/tea and something to eat. We have never had a full meal there though there is a comprehensive menu. The building is a little rural but this adds to its charm. Staff are friendly.

Stopped in for breakfast as traffic was bad. Ordered the Barnyard breakfast. Beans were cold, hash brown was soggy, mushrooms were old, sausage was burnt. The eggs were well cooked. Overall a pretty rubbish breakfast and clearly cooked by someone who doesn’t know what they are doing. A real shame as it’s a lovely building and surrounding area. View menu

There were 5 of us in all. We had an excellent breakfast. Probably spent £8-9 per head including drinks. The cafe is actually in the grounds of a farm and the entrance is just on the Ongar side of the bridge that goes over the A12' Although it was well-directed on the Sat-nav, there is no sign at the entrance. You will see a sign for the cafe about 200 yards up the farm entrance.

When we received the bill, we noticed an extra charge for the milk. Upon questioning this, we were informed that we were given oat milk because the waitress thought that's what we had requested. After speaking with the owner, she apologized and voided the charge. However, we have decided not to return due to the miscommunication with some of the staff regarding customer preferences. Additionally, we observed that some waitresses were diligently disinfecting surfaces, but two separate staff members cleaned the tables without attending to the chairs.

"We used to go to Whittaker's every weekend when visiting Brentwood, and used to recommend it ,it was always expensive, but it was good food and good service, but for the last few months it is going down hill fast! As soon as you go in now ,and...eventually noticed,we are told it will be ,or minutes wait for food,at this point many customers leave. This has happened every time we visit,so we ordered coffee, when we would have ordered food for four people, well we waited, and waited, for a coffee ,after twenty minutes I went up to the kitchen, and was told it's coming, where from Brazil!!!!!! And then nothing! Caught a waitresses eye and asked again, then we got it,and then told if we were not eating could we be quicker as there were people waiting!!!!! Anyone sitting down was told it was a long wait,so most left! That's money walking out the door! And they didn't seem to care! We discovered the reason for this terrible service,a buy came in with a massive deliveroo bag and left after ten minutes with a massive bag of food, they are now doing delivery and making the deliveroo a priority !!!!! They might think they are making a good living out of this, but the people actually there are money too! And paying extra for the privelidge of eating in. It cost more to eat i than take out! And the last time we were there, they lost our custom,so that was four,we saw another three leave,a other group of four,a couple, and that's customers ,and the as thing was no one from Whittaker's asked the people why they were going,or attempt to sort the problem out. We were sitting by the door and as it opened other customers were calling out don't bother again no staff were Interested. This cafe is packed in , more and more tables, with no room to get up or down from your table without backing Into other people, and nearly sitting on their laps. Not going back ,now they are doing deliveroo, actual customers who want to eat,are getting a very poor service. They have lost our custom for good,"
