"Five stars? I am mistaken. A shower of stars. We will travel miles for steak and kidney pud, featured in the pub's reassuringly short menu. Order in advance for the best pud ever, no crusty edges and full of top quality tender steak. Complemented with lashings of gravy and a side of veg. This is a proper locals' ancient freehouse village pub with recognitions galore. Featured in the Good Pub Guides since at least 1985, Good Beer Guide and recent CAMRA pub of the year, Alastair Sawday pub guide and Unusual pubs by boot, bike and boat. Set deep in the glorious Devon countryside and welcomed by Robert, engaging and friendly. Deborah working her magic in the kitchen. They have owned this pub for 21 years so that's good enough for me."

One of the best meals we’ve had in a pub! The food is outstanding as well as the service. The staff are so friendly and chatty. We can’t wait to visit again with our family.

we have now visited the grove 3 times, and each time when eating was excellent, the atmosphere is on place and the drink selection and recommended was very good. the only mistake I can find is that his is not closer to my house.

We ate here fairly early on cold March nioght. The owner was really welcoming. The food, cooked by his wife was really very good. They do get busy so it's best to book. Plenty of atmosphere. Really a decent find. Will be back when next in Devon. View menu

What a find. We rented a cottage nearby and paid several visits to this pub which was obviously the hub of the community. Welcoming landlord and drinkers with well looked after beer. Good well cooked food. Busy even mid week in November. Hopefully we will visit again.

Staying at Barton Farm. Grove Inn was highly recommended. Very glad we came. Friendly greeting, efficient bar service. Extremely well kept real ales! Cosy relaxed atmosphere. Dogs welcome. Small, but varied menu with choices for everyone. The main course food was outstanding. Puddings just fab! Table service was excellent. Everyone was delighted. Altogether great value.

beautiful country pub with friendly staff and great eating the owners helped us find a parking space, as they are not a parking space in front of location and my mother was with us, which has mobility problems, so that a space outside the pubs was found for us the eating was excellent, my partners were boiled but quickly rectified and the staff ensured that after that it was happy overall a nice visit View menu

We were in the area and popped in to The Grove Inn for lunch. The landlord was very friendly and accommodating kept the kitchen open for us and went through all his ciders with me, letting me taste each one until I settled on my favourite. The food was excellent. There was an amazing choice, for a cosy, village pub. It arrived swiftly to our table in the suntrap outside, was piping hot and delicious. Would highly recommend a visit if you happen to passing through Kings Nympton or nearby. Many thanks, Jules Sarah.

I found this pub through Facebook and as we were staying in the next village thought we'd give it a try. It didn't disappoint. It's a quaint small village pub but with a big community feel. The landlord was very welcoming and very friendly. He had put out birthday bunting for my husband, which was a really lovely touch. The food was amazing! The scotch egg starter is a must, proper tasty! The cider was a good shout too. The meal was so nice and it made a nice ending to our stay. Would definitely recommend and hopefully one day return.
