"I purchased four breakfast items that were extremely overpriced, even by Manchester standards. However, I had a good lunch experience previously, so I hoped it would be okay. I specified that it was for takeout, but all sauce requests were ignored. There was no butter on any of the bread, even though I paid extra for cheese that was not included, and the portion sizes were very disappointing. I included a photo of a sausage sandwich that cost £5 for only 1.5 sausages, with no sauce or butter despite requesting it. When I called to complain, I was told "sorry" and nothing else."

My car broke down outside The Black Lion on a freezing November morning and the kindness and friendliness of the staff saved me from potential hypothermia while I waited 4 hours for recovery. View menu

My sister and I came to this restaurant to watch a concert, and we were absolutely delighted. The staff were lovely and super friendly, the place was impeccably clean, and the food was delicious. I can't wait to come back again.

I was pleasantly surprised by the quality of the room and the professionalism of the staff at Black Lion. I travel frequently for work and all of my usual hotels were either fully booked or charging much higher rates. The location and reasonable price of Black Lion were what initially caught my attention. View menu

Me and my wife stayed in black lion for one evening. We arrived around lunch time via train. Great location for Manchester Victoria. We had some lunch in the bar and a few drinks. 20% discount for all guests staying in hotel. Lovely lunch and staff really kind and helpful. The staff were great all evening in the bar and the following morning breakfast included was fantastic. Excellent value for money, thanks to Callum, joe and all the other staff for a great night away.

"Hearing about a traditional fish and chip shop in Prestwich, complete with a restaurant and bar, and cooking in beef-dripping with the option for vegetable oil (call to confirm vegetable oil availability), I was compelled to check it out. Upon entering the shop, I found myself in the bar area, with access to the restaurant located upstairs. The bar was furnished with tables, chairs, and stools for those wishing to enjoy a drink or avoid the stairs. It is encouraging to see young people engaged in the fish and chip shop trade, potentially leading to more traditional establishments in the future. The cod, although slightly smaller than expected, was delicious and cooked to perfection. The chips were among the best I’ve had in a long time. The pea fritters, black pudding fritters, and tartare sauce were also excellent. In-house pies were available as well, so I sampled the cheese and onion and meat and potato varieties and can recommend both. There is parking available across the street and on-street. However, the opening hours might not suit those looking for a lunchtime meal, as at the time of this review, the hours are Tuesday to Saturday from 4:30 PM to 8:30 PM, and closed on Sunday and Monday.
