"Stayed for three nights on a cheeky Birthday city break. First things first. The staff here are absolute legends!!! Cheerful, helpful, down to earth Manchester people. An easy walk from all of the main train stations. The rooms are lovely, clean and simple. The Manchester theming is a nice touch. My only tiny tiny ting gripe would be the lack of aircon leading to a pretty warm room. The hotel supply a fan but that turns off the minute you leave the room so on a warm weekend it was a warm room, could be tricky when it gets really hot. Aside from that very small point it's a great, simple, honest little spot. Thanks guys!"

Stayed in the Black Lion Hotel over last weekend and the rooms were beautifully decorated and newly refurbished. I would highly recommend. You are close to the center of Manchester and the staff were polite and very helpful.

Room was nice, staff were very friendly especially Joe and Katie. Had a great stay lovely shower and 20% off food and drink when you stay. Breakfast was a let down just get the avocado and poached egg looked nice but the full English was awful. Would stay again. View menu

Very friendly staff. Checked in late around 10 pm. Nothing was too much trouble. Lovely clean room. Very comfortable bed. Woke up after our night out in town to an full English breakfast. Lots of coffee and fresh orange juice. This booking was a last minute decision and couldn't ask for a nicer place to stay in the centre of town. Just a short walk and we were on deansgate. We've making this our first choice when we stay over in Manchester. Thank you. Regards Anthony and Zoe

"Hearing about a traditional fish and chip shop in Prestwich, complete with a restaurant and bar, and cooking in beef-dripping with the option for vegetable oil (call to confirm vegetable oil availability), I was compelled to check it out. Upon entering the shop, I found myself in the bar area, with access to the restaurant located upstairs. The bar was furnished with tables, chairs, and stools for those wishing to enjoy a drink or avoid the stairs. It is encouraging to see young people engaged in the fish and chip shop trade, potentially leading to more traditional establishments in the future. The cod, although slightly smaller than expected, was delicious and cooked to perfection. The chips were among the best I’ve had in a long time. The pea fritters, black pudding fritters, and tartare sauce were also excellent. In-house pies were available as well, so I sampled the cheese and onion and meat and potato varieties and can recommend both. There is parking available across the street and on-street. However, the opening hours might not suit those looking for a lunchtime meal, as at the time of this review, the hours are Tuesday to Saturday from 4:30 PM to 8:30 PM, and closed on Sunday and Monday.
