"Pleasant old style beamed cottage environment with very friendly pleasant and attentive staff . The tables were well decorated and clothed. The wine list was OK and reasonable. Wine was served well with tasting offered. I suppose I had in mind more of a gastro pub. However the food served was best described as hearty. My fried bassa fillet was OK, running in oil and it was served on the plate with just 6 boiled rather large half potatoes which were not new pots. The veggies were OK in an accompanying side bowl. Lots of food but not well displayed and not particularly tasty. My wife went for the pork Sunday lunch. The pork was served as two half inch thick slices of rolled pork which was rather dry. It was not carved from a roast. Good roast potatoes. Only a ring of apple which was not adequate for the pork. Desserts were large and the banana split too much and messy to eat. My chocolate brownie was excellent. Great serving staff, adequate food, rather bland and not elegant in any way. A pity."

I have already sent a complaining email to the owners of the blue hayes, so I feel my star reviews are likely to be all I have to say about my recent visit there

We have used the Blue Hayes restaurant for dinner on special occasions such as brthdays and anniversaries for several years, and we were unsure when it changed hands , but on our last visit we were very happy with our meal, thank you John &maggie hunt

The food wasn't good. The potatoes for both our meals tasted old and just heated up. The place although smart seemed rather dated and lacked ambience. And I felt cold which is never good in a restaurant. It's a shame as it looks so pretty from the outside View menu

Dreadful ambience and very very tired decor. Needs a good lick of paint and a total refurbish. Even had to tell the assistant there was no towel in the toilets and didnt seem interested ! Limted lunch choice , be it what we had was fine A definite place never to go back to !

walking week so was very quiet and little atmosphere. fascinated to see how different it would be on the wknd. the menu was excellent, but the food was a bit disappointing for the price. the venison was asked to medium cooked, but was better cooked. the sweet was not great either. the waitress was very attentive and welcoming.
