"Firstly, The Bridgewater Arms in Winston is simply exquisite! Such a beautiful historic and county pub, although it is so much more than that! I feel like I am belittling it by calling it a pub. From the outside shows the old schools original features and including the school bell located proudly outside one of the doors. From going inside to being warmly welcomed by Tom and Christine in the bar with a roaring fire, beautifully decorated bar and when asking for a drink comes a beautiful list of real ales and various wines for everyone's taste, including what you would expect from a country pub so I stuck to my strong pint of Diet Coke due to driving duties, so there is something for all the family. They had a beautiful menu to suit all taste buds and from what I had heard, the food was excellent but I did not realise it was going to be as good as it was! The duck was suculant and simply divine! Accompanied with butternut squash, confit potatoes and a rich plum sauce to which I could have had a pint of on it own! It was beautiful! The warm bar with its stunning decor kept us in the bar for hours before departing. Tom and Christine ensuring we were all OK and if we needed anything else, they were not far away to cater our needs. We all left extremely happy and full. We will definetly be back very soon! Thank you for a lovely evening, Tom, Christine and all the staff at The Bridgewater Arms."

I had a lovely lunch with my family. The food was absolutely outstanding. The manager made a point to check in with every table, which was nice to see. Both the staff and the food exceeded our expectations. The cleanliness of the restaurant was also impressive, which is very important to me. We will definitely be returning!

The dining experience was exceptional. We started with the chicken terrine, followed by a main course of filet steak served with chips and red wine jus. For dessert, we enjoyed a delightful chocolate brownie accompanied by cherry ice cream. This is an excellent place for both food and drinks, and the service was outstanding as well.

I had a lovely celebratory meal here last night. Enjoyed a really relaxed and welcoming atmosphere. The cheese croquettes were extremely tasty. My steak was cooked perfectly and I tried to green peppercorn sauce which was gorgeous. I had the lemon meringue dessert which was so zesty and light. The Prosecco and wine was spot on. Will definitely go back.

I visited this restaurant for Sunday dinner, and I can only say that the experience was excellent from the warm and friendly welcome to our departure. I loved every aspect of my visit—the charming décor, the menu, the food, and the drink selection. The staff was incredibly attentive, even to my energetic five-year-old. You know the food is good when a child cleans their plate and asks for ice cream for dessert! I can't wait to return and explore more of this delicious menu. Well done, Tom, Christine, and the entire staff—highly recommended! View menu

I wish there was a 6 star option! wing them to the bridgewater arms to celebrate a birthday shortly after he was reopened. from the incredibly warm greeting of the manager and the waiting staff to the extraordinary presentation of life means everything was exactly what we wanted it to be! for beginners I had the laugh that was presented very well. the duck for the net was delicious and incredibly tender! the choice of drink was abundant and cheap. the atmosphere was very relaxed and welcoming I felt as if I had been invited to a friendly house for dinner! thank you for an ingenious night! I can't wait to be back:

"Absolutely awful service at this restaurant, but the food was pretty good, eventually. The facts: The waitress sat us down and gave us the menus. She didn't bother coming back, so after 30 minutes, we ordered at the bar via the barman. I had dietary requirements, and these were explained at the time of ordering, basically no wheat and no dairy on one of the meals. We waited another 25 mins (please note that there was no one else in the restaurant at this time, they other two couples had already left). The waitress then came out and asked us if we'd like anything else. We said we'd hadn't anything yet so no, we weren't ready to order anything else. She went to the kitchen and returned saying the food would be another 5 mins. Food arrived we had been waiting an hour by this stage. I looked at mine and asked the waitress to check if there was any dairy in it, as it was supposed to be wheat and dairy free. She checked in the kitchen and there was indeed dairy on the meal. She said the chef wasn't told about the dairy and it would another 15 minutes for a correct meal to come out. We decided that I didn't mind what it was so long as it was a chicken breast with vegetables and no wheat or dairy on it. My partner had his meal which was ok but he ate it alone because I was still waiting for mine. Mine arrived and was ok too, in the end. I requested fresh chips as the first portion had gone cold and they bought these out for me at no extra cost. Note: This was the night that England were playing in the Euros (before the final) and you could hear the radio/TV playing the match at the back of the pub. We feel that the staff were more interested in listening/watching the football than actually serving us. We did express our opinion politely to the waitress who took our payment but she had not been our serving waitress nor had she taken the food order so took the complaint and apologised despite not being involved in the problem. We also messaged the pub facebook page to complain that the service was appalling but we got no reply from them. Needless to say we're never eating there again."
