The Bull Pen - Menu

I recently revisited this restaurant and was once again let down by the poor service, likely due to a lack of staff. It's a pity because the food and location are both fantastic.

This restaurant is consistently busy, with the food always served hot by friendly staff. Katie, the waitress, is particularly pleasant and always gets your order right. When in Radlett, there's no need to go anywhere else.

Food is average and well overpriced! The service is awful! Lots of miserable staff who don‘t provide any service and have zero customer service skills. 12.5 service charge automatically added to the bill, what a joke and not only that there is no service as mentioned, it’s awful! We won’t be returning!

We went with our daughter her partner our son and one of our granddaughters for Sunday lunch. Got there at 12, no queue, we were given a table that held 6 of us. Quite a large menu, everything from breakfasts, sandwiches right through tp salads and cakes. 4 ordered buckriebit with extra sausages or bacon, our grand daughter had a breakfast bap, I had a huge ham salad with a side of avocado

Ordered two lattes, asked for a menu to look at and when the waiter brought us our drinks he took the menus and threw them in the bin? Went to pay and noticed there was an additional 91p service charge for walking 30 foot with our drinks, obviously I asked for that to be removed. Can’t smoke outside either. Off the beaten track so you have to make the effort to go here so maybe I should have charged them for the petrol I used to go there. Won’t be going back.

Went for lunch on Monday. The tables inside were full so we decided to accept a table in the covered area outside. This area is extremely disappointing. The flooring consisted on fake grass which was absolutely filthy bits of food and all sorts of other dust and litter. The seating consists of wooden tables and chairs and plastic tables and chairs. This area brings the whole standard of the restaurant right down. We asked to be moved inside. The inside part of the restaurant was lovely. The food was good but overpriced and the service charge a rip off.

Well, it's a matter of principle. We know the food is good but a bit pricey. However, how much can you trust the prices on their online menu? We just wanted 2 Americano coffees with hot milk. The online menu showed £3.55, but we were charged £3.75 on-site. Yes, I know it's only 25p more, but it makes you wonder how accurate their full menu is online compared to what they charge in person. The waitress said that's the price we charge on the menu. It really makes you think...if they change prices, they should update the menu online so it matches what they charge in person.

We were having a walk and called in for a coffee. We waited ages to be served although there was a lot of staff on, often milling around the 'welcome ' station. Anyway, we drank the coffee, which was nothing special, and then asked for the bill. About 10 minutes later when we were getting a bit fed up, we went to the welcome station and asked if we could pay. It was almost £8 for two coffees, which even for the South seemed a bit steep but it was only when we got outside that we noticed there was a 12.5% service charge on the bill for coffees! And no service to speak of!

We were visiting friends and needed some lunch before heading home. We parked up just after 12 on a Wednesday. There was a queue out of the door, but we were seated quickly on a table for 2 inside. While quieing I noticed that they had chicken schnitzel chips and salad as a special. When the waitress came to take our orders, we did indeed order the schnitzel, but just with salad for me. It was a nice portion, hot and tasty. Hubby ordered a chocolate cake with ice cream. It was a huge portion. He asked if he could take the rest home, which indeed he did.
