"The Cheery Cup is an old school British style cafe serving old school British chips with stuff and other Scottish favourites. I stopped here for lunch break while doing the local heritage trail. It’s not a particularly modern decor, but the service was more than friendly and welcoming enough. For food I ordered chips with curry sauce and a regular latte. First time I’ve had the former in decades and it tasted amazing. The chips were crisp, generous helping of sauce to the whole bowl, but not enough to turn the chips into mush, so kudos for that. The latte was similar to the stuff made by baristas and again I’ve got no complaints about the coffee. The cafe and staff were adhering to the cleaning and social distancing rules, so another round of applause for that. I don’t worry so much about the decor, but the taste of the food was great. This place is not fine dining and I set my expectations at that level."

Good food and drink and friendly service. Not the cheapest bar but good enough of it's kind. Enjoyed the Haggis and Tatties.

It’s okay to pop in for a small bite to eat but don’t expect much the menu isn’t very exciting and the food is extremely basic I had chips and gravy and the gravy got heat up in the microwave and was as thick as tar. I definitely would not go out my way to go in for something to eat.

Nipped in today for my lunch and ordered a tuna mayo panini you’d think that would be extremely easy and straightforward to make surly ? Apparently not! Got it and was absolutely disgusting! It had bright orange sauce in it ?? What mayo is this Chernobyl mayo? The tuna was brown/yellowish literally tane a bite and threw it away! Waste of time money!! Utter joke of a place. View menu

The Cheery Cup and Saucer in Ardrossan has always been my favourite place to stop before a ferry trip to Arran! Visiting this lovely little cafe over the past 10 years has been an absolute delight, with such friendly and quick service and high quality freshly cooked food from the lovely ladies at the this cafe. We highly recommend this lovely place, and a perfect stop before or after the ferry to Arran!

The food is good value for money with a Ok range to choose from the cafe itself does need a good refurb it’s definitely not the nicest I’ve seen it’s very dated! ive yet too see every light with a working light bulb in it .... they have around 6 lights on the ceiling and about 3/4 work every time I’m in I noticed but the staff don’t seem to. But ok for a quick bite to eat now and then but wouldn’t go out my way to go in.

"We were a party of 5, on a cold, very wet Saturday evening, coldest so far I would say! We drew up and saw a young family of 3 sitting with jackets on in the conservatory area, we were a bit concerned! We took a...seat at the back of the conservatory which proved to be a big mistake! There was a terrible draught coming from behind me, I did mention it and was told it was 27c at the middle of the room, but not where we were sitting!! I mentioned it a few times and sat with my shawl scarf on throughout! I pulled down the window blinds hoping that would help, nope!! We ordered our food, I asked about a vegetarian option for my husband, our waitress did say he could a veggie option on the curry and the tempura or risotto, which was helpful! I had to ask what was the soup of the day and also the pate!! I did feel that maybe in this day and age there should have been a small dedicated vegetarian area on the menu, but that’s just my opinion! 3 of our party had starters which were great, Cullen skink, scallops and langoustine tempura, Main courses arrived, 3 fish and chips, one lemon soul and one veggie tempura, all were excellent except for the veggie tempura which was large shards of onion and carrot in an albeit lovely batter, but not all vegetarians like huge chunks of vegetables! 4 of our party had a sticky toffee pudding with vanilla ice cream, which was plentiful! Overall we had a pleasant meal, little or no atmosphere though, one of the younger waitresses (white shirt, black skirt) was friendly and more talkative, the waitress (dressed all in black)who served us was, we all felt a little disinterested and lacked any empathy with the guests! We asked for our bill, the youngest waitress came with the card machine and felt how cold it was only then did she check the windows to find there was one opened, hence the draught, which spoiled our visit because we were felling it cold!! We paid the bill and left a tip on the plate, no one came to say thank you for you custom, or have a nice evening, nothing!! All in all it was pretty inhospitable! Value you for money, it was good for the standard of the food!"
