"We were a family group of 5 out for a mid week dinner. The place was busy and so we expected to have to wait for our food. When it finally arrived, they brought the mains for 4 people but one was missing. Some of us had finished our meal before the food for the 5th person arrived with no apology. Taking the order for desserts took forever, as the waitress didn 't seem to know what she was doing. We asked how many scoops were included in the ice cream and she said 1 at £7 we queried it and she had to go and ask and then confirmed that it was 3. When the ice cream arrived, it only had two scoops! When the bill arrived, it had extra drinks we had not had, so we had to query it. Given the atrocious service we received, we decided not to pay the service charge. The waiter queried it and we explained. His response: I couldn 't care less. Charming!"

Very disappointing, service was slow, and it was cold where we were seated. Food took an hour to arrive and was cold. This is the last time that we will book the restaurant.

We visited Clifton Sausage for the first time today and had an excellent experience. The staff were polite and friendly. The service was attentive and most importantly the food (we had 3 x courses) was tasty and of high quality.

The food here was very yummy! There was a wide selection of sausages and meats. The roasted seasonal vegetables were delicious. However, the broccoli was disappointing. On the menu it said it was cooked with garlic, paprika and chilli butter- but it was just steamed, kind of hard broccoli when it came out!

This is a proper restaurant with a passion for sausages. We managed to book a table and went on a very cold night. Yes there was a cold draught every time the door was opened, but it's winter. The staff were really lovely and there was a great menu of sausages and other English food. It was great value for money too. A real treat. View menu

On my own as hubby in the Nuffield Hospital and i was staying in a hotel nearby. Went early evening made very welcome , had a lovely meal .pork belly with red cabbage, apple and mash was superb, sticky toffee sponge with lots of sauce and ice cream , cheered me up on a stressful day before back to the hospital ! Female, solo customer.

We tried to visit on the off chance of a table. The waitress was unbelievably rude, i polity said we didn’t have a reservation but did they have a table for 3. She waved her arms in the air said ‘No chance’, turned her back to me and walked off. Rude, rude, rude there really was no need to make us feel so unwelcome and offended just for asking for a table!

Good quality food and lots of choice. We had the sausage tasting platter for our main which came with mash and gravy. The portions are on the large size so in the future we would pass on the starters. Service was very friendly but staff could have made more effort to check back in to see if we wanted to order more drinks etc, we had to flag them down constantly to ask. View menu

Family lunch. Great food served in generous potions. Everything was hot and tasty. Nice atmosphere. Good service. Glamorgan sausages were really good. Plenty of other options on menu if you don’t want a sausage. One of the party had sea bass which was very good. Dog friendly. Lower part of the restaurant a little tired compared to upper area which seemed a much nicer place to be sat in. Will definitely be back.

What a wonderful cosy evening that was. When we first arrived we were seated at a table right next to the bar and could hardly hear each other talk over the noise from the rabble at the bar, however after we asked to be be moved we were re-seated at the most perfect table over in a corner, nice a quiet and cosy. The food and drink that followed were delicious and the service was fantastic. Would highly recommend this lovely place.

"Visited here in Sept 23 for an executive dinner that we were hosting for various senior business leaders. We booked out the whole venue, which was the perfect size and atmosphere for the intimate and exclusive feel that we wanted, plus a convenient location. The TV that shows into the kitchen was fascinating, and the record player was put to use towards the end of the evening! Caroline from the venue helped us organise the event in advance and was great to deal with. We were fortunate with the weather so were able to enjoy a welcome drinks reception out the front of the venue, and have the door open all evening to let the balmy night in. We had the 7 course taster menu and it was simply OUTSTANDING so many of our guests commented on how delicious it was, particularly the beef steak course! It was so tasty that I even enjoyed the fish dish (not usual for me! . Service on the night was exemplary, the courses were brought out at just the right intervals so you weren't waiting ages but also not being rushed. The chef came out to greet us after the final course, which was a lovely touch and meant we could thank him. Overall, we had really great feedback from our guests, everyone loved it thank you for making our event such a success! We would definitely book again, and I know a few of our guests have already recommended it to their own companies for executive dinners! Would not hesitate to recommend."
