"After a lovely day walking around Hatfield Forest with our 2 dogs, My wife, my daughter myself popped in for something to eat. We were quite late as we didn't realise they closed at 3:30 But nothing was too much trouble for the lovely friendly ladies serving. The food was really great they received back 3 clean plates. We sat outside because of the dogs I must say it really is a lovely setting, especially on a nice sunny day like we had. Thoroughly recommended."

We stopped here this morning en route to an airport pick up. Freshly cooked full english breakfast, I loved the mushroom and cheese omelette. So good that we ordered sandwiches for our trip home.

Needed somewhere local for four of us to grab breakfast, before we all dispersed home. What a little gem we found. Nice choice of food, served by two very friendly ladies, at a very reasonable price.

I suppose it was getting late was around 3.30, but they had no hot food eg jacket potatoes and only one sandwich left. Not much there. Cake was very dry. Disappointing but the forest itself is stunning.

First found this by a friends recommendation. Popped here for a business meeting and now been bring my wife here. Lovely outdoor setting, so close to Hatfield Forrest and Stansted Airoort. Had a very nice breakfast here and coffee with selection o milk alternatives

Great food, Great staff, Great place to relax after a long drive or business meeting. I had a full English breakfast. Very fair price. The Bacon is locally sourced from a real Butcher. You absolutely can taste the difference. Not salty and does not shrivel away into a scrap of meat. Due to the usual bacon being pumped with water. The Granary bread was exceptional. I WILL BE BACK (Arnie)

"We have lived in Dunmow for 25 years and have always visited this pub through its various ownerships. We had not been for a while, until after I had a life saving major heart operation last year and this was the first place we chose to go for breakfast when I came out of hospital. We have continued to go since then on a regular basis and it never fails to satisfy. We have always been served by Lorraine since the first day we went and she has been fantastic. Last weekend was a year since I had the operation and we chose to go back for a small family meal to celebrate the success of the day. Well what can I say, my wife had other ideas and with the help of Lorraine she organised a surprise gathering of family and friends in a cordoned off part of the marquee with buffet. What made it even more special was that they don't normally do a buffet on a Sunday as it is normally roast dinner only. After Lorraine explained to her manager the importance of the day she was more than happy to help make the day happen. For this I am really grateful, and despite not getting the steak dinner I thought I was having it was so much better. Thank you to everyone involved as I know the organisation for this on a day you would not normally do it would have been a challenge. We will continue to go for breakfast whenever we can and hope that Lorraine is always there."

"The Green Man at Linsell is a charming pub located off the beaten path that almost meets expectations. The pub's decor is lovely and you'll receive a warm welcome from the attentive front-of-house team. It's a step up from your typical pub, with white tablecloths and napkins that elevate the Sunday lunch experience. Getting there may require navigating through narrow single-track roads with the help of a somewhat confusing satnav, but there is ample parking available once you arrive. The drink selection is standard pub fare, though the wine list appears reasonable. For our meal, we both opted for the beef Sunday roast. While everything was cooked well, the dishes lacked seasoning and punch to truly elevate the flavors. One dish that stood out was a broccoli cheese concoction that seemed odd and wasn't to our taste. For dessert, we tried the crumble and brownie bake. The crumble, advertised as apple and blackberry or blackcurrant, felt lacking in the black element, resulting in what appeared to be a purple apple crumble. Despite these drawbacks, we cleaned our plates and left feeling satisfied and ready for a post-meal walk with our dog. The bill came to £30 per person, drinks included, making it a reasonably priced Sunday lunch option. Overall, The Green Man at Linsell is worth a visit for a leisurely lunch in a pleasant setting."
