"A quick search for a dog friendly cafe in the town bright us here on a Sunday lunchtime. We got a nice welcome from a friendly man, and the menu was varied from paninis, sandwiches, jackets, salads, nachos and loads of drink options. We waited quite long for our food but it was delicious and plentiful when it arrived. The waiter remained friendly and chatted to the children. There was a baby changing area outside the toilet, and he brought a water bowl for our dog too. We felt very looked after and it just felt that they do everything right. We will definitely return and maybe next time do some pottery painting-they had a huge range of things to paint, and it was a very relaxing atmosphere in which to do it."

This restaurant is perfect for both kids and adults. The food is delicious, the staff is friendly, and the painting experience is a lot of fun! It's also a great spot for hosting children's parties. View menu

Unusual and light café menu, very competitively priced and promptly served. The dog loves his Dog-Ice cream (Vanilla only-he hates the mint flavour) The owners are thorough, hardworking and the atmosphere is great. I totally recommend it. Lovely outside area at the back when the weather is suitable. View menu

We enjoy going to the Chameleon Cafe for a quick coffee, a meal, or some pottery painting - sometimes all three! The owners, Alan and Deanne, are delightful and always go above and beyond for their customers. They create a welcoming sense of community in their cafe. We can't wait for summer when we can enjoy the beautiful garden and street seating, but for now, we are loving the cozy atmosphere during the winter months.

Kindness, patience and really good food and service. Pre-booked a quiet table so my family, including my dementia affected 77 yr old Father, could enjoy Sunday brunch and paint a bit of pottery beforehand. The service, the kindness, the humanity, was a treasured delight. Of course the pottery painting is fun too and our 7yr old daughter was matching her granddad brushstroke for brushstroke! The brie ham and onion relish toasted sandwich was delish (not my first time), Mums chicken caesar wrap was a triumph and everyone said what a truly delightful time we all had. We’ll done the team at Chameleon Cafe *applause*

"We have lived in Dunmow for 25 years and have always visited this pub through its various ownerships. We had not been for a while, until after I had a life saving major heart operation last year and this was the first place we chose to go for breakfast when I came out of hospital. We have continued to go since then on a regular basis and it never fails to satisfy. We have always been served by Lorraine since the first day we went and she has been fantastic. Last weekend was a year since I had the operation and we chose to go back for a small family meal to celebrate the success of the day. Well what can I say, my wife had other ideas and with the help of Lorraine she organised a surprise gathering of family and friends in a cordoned off part of the marquee with buffet. What made it even more special was that they don't normally do a buffet on a Sunday as it is normally roast dinner only. After Lorraine explained to her manager the importance of the day she was more than happy to help make the day happen. For this I am really grateful, and despite not getting the steak dinner I thought I was having it was so much better. Thank you to everyone involved as I know the organisation for this on a day you would not normally do it would have been a challenge. We will continue to go for breakfast whenever we can and hope that Lorraine is always there."

"The Green Man at Linsell is a charming pub located off the beaten path that almost meets expectations. The pub's decor is lovely and you'll receive a warm welcome from the attentive front-of-house team. It's a step up from your typical pub, with white tablecloths and napkins that elevate the Sunday lunch experience. Getting there may require navigating through narrow single-track roads with the help of a somewhat confusing satnav, but there is ample parking available once you arrive. The drink selection is standard pub fare, though the wine list appears reasonable. For our meal, we both opted for the beef Sunday roast. While everything was cooked well, the dishes lacked seasoning and punch to truly elevate the flavors. One dish that stood out was a broccoli cheese concoction that seemed odd and wasn't to our taste. For dessert, we tried the crumble and brownie bake. The crumble, advertised as apple and blackberry or blackcurrant, felt lacking in the black element, resulting in what appeared to be a purple apple crumble. Despite these drawbacks, we cleaned our plates and left feeling satisfied and ready for a post-meal walk with our dog. The bill came to £30 per person, drinks included, making it a reasonably priced Sunday lunch option. Overall, The Green Man at Linsell is worth a visit for a leisurely lunch in a pleasant setting."
