Just popped in for quick anniversary drink as had other commitments but really warm welcome from James and the staff and lovely complimentary snack with our drinks which was a nice touch James is such a lovely host and always takes the time to speak to you

Perfect country setting and lovely garden at rear, ideal for kids to let off steam too. Brilliant attentive staff and chef will come personally and speak to you if required. Food is top quality, white tablecloths and wine glasses on the tables, looks stunning ! For real ale drinkers try the Colchester Brewery ales, Jack Spitty is lovely !

The pub is nice and clean and modern, with a pleasant outdoor area if you want to sit outside but it needed more sunshades for hot days. Service is warm friendly. Whilst the beer battered fish was enjoyable, the skin on chips were a soggy disappointment more like badly done frozen chips. Would have expected them to be so much better. My extended family and I gathered at this restaurant, choosing its quiet location as a midpoint between our five homes. The food was delicious and well-presented, and we received excellent service from James and his team. We enjoyed the lovely views from the back of the restaurant, as well as the spacious beer garden. Despite being relatively quiet on a Thursday afternoon in late September, I believe this restaurant deserves more customers.

While out for a walk, we spontaneously stopped by this charming restaurant for a coffee by the cozy log fire. We ended up staying for lunch after browsing the menu. My husband ordered a delicious sausage, cheese, and onion sandwich with coleslaw, while I opted for the beautifully presented fish cakes served with a side of mixed leaves. Nick, our server, warmly welcomed us, despite our casual attire, and provided excellent attentiveness throughout our meal, always accompanied by a friendly smile.

Arrived for dinner and was shown to requested table by the window. Good comprehensive menu well selected and wine list also interestingly describing the varieties Two of us enjoyed the liver and bacon main course whilst the others selected the risotto . Visited this resturant for a family dinner table of 9 . Upon arrival this looked like a very nice resturant ,however it gets worse !! We noticed a couple of wasps flying around on the back window and they headed straight for our table this continued throughout our meal we counted at least ten wasps heading towards us . management tried to deal with this problem by getting them outside but it didn't help ,they just kept coming back and trying to land in the food ,and being successful on a couple of occasions . The Green Man at Linsell is a charming pub located off the beaten path that almost meets expectations. The pub's decor is lovely and you'll receive a warm welcome from the attentive front-of-house team. It's a step up from your typical pub, with white tablecloths and napkins that elevate the Sunday lunch experience. Getting there may require navigating through narrow single-track roads with the help of a somewhat confusing satnav, but there is ample parking available once you arrive. We used to go to the Green Man a lot under the previous owners and thought we would give it a try again for our wedding anniversary with our children. Bit of a mistake! You can see they are trying to improve the quality of the food, which was always good anyway but poor training and terrible service really let it down tonight. So we sat at 17:30 and it was 15 mins before we were offered drinks, not a massive deal. Food order another 10 mins. Both the kids ordered burgers so I specifically asked if there was mayonnaise in the burgers and if the coleslaw was separate and was told no mayo in burger and coleslaw separate.
