"Went in with the intent of having a quick light lunch (sandwich) chose a BLT on white and a prawn and scampi tails Marie Rose on brown. One bite into the white artisan bread proved obvious that the bread was not fresh, it was dry and certainly not a ‘todays bread’ delivery, a brief and cursory look at the bottom crust proved this with more than SIX PLUS SPORES OF MOULD on it. Waitron did well to start a recovery process, “accidents happen” promising us fresh sandwiches. We’d been in near an hour before we got our second attempt at a quick lunch. The time was spent then looking deeper at our surroundings, a dirty table, dirty salt cruet pot, finger prints on the cutlery. The sandwiches arrived and still were dry, no butter, nor spread, the little gem lettuce looked like it needed CPR. We really believe the brown sandwich was the original one! We left half of it, it was poor by any standard. The waitron (who was lovely) couldn’t believe there was no butter until we showed her after the mould as well, she offered a full refund. I insisted on paying for the drinks, but left wondering whether this is Environmental Health reportable and is this Fullers Ltd practice of chasing down cost for increased margins at the detriment to customer satisfaction is and even after having a second chance accepting it was ok to fail again. Artisan bread (generally) has no preservatives, manage your food proposition and supplies accordingly. Last bit of advise to prospective customers, CHECK YOUR FOOD CAREFULLY BEFORE CONSUMPTION."

Happy with food service but baffled by the extremely dim lighting in the ladies toilets which were anyway decorated in dark colours.

We've eaten here in the past and enjoyed it however this time everything was poor untrained staff, poor service, very disappointing food and expensive. Not a place to go back to.

14/12. I went to The Cromwell Arms with my husband for dinner. I ordered the steak, id like to say compliments to the chef, I think it was the best cooked steak I ever had. I will be returning!

Beautiful modern pub with lots of nice seating both inside and out with cover of it rains too. Good sized eating area too if you want more than just a drink. Reasonably priced and easy to get parking in which is a big bonus around Romsey! Nice family pub or a group night out. View menu

Been to The Cromwell Arms many times, and never had a bad meal. But today's was exceptional! Sea bass with Rogan Josh and potatos. Was absolutely lovely! Will definitely have that again. Served by very nice young lad, think it was George who did a great job in looking after us. All round a lovely experience, as ever!

We have previously enjoyed the Sunday roast at this restaurant twice and were impressed by the quality of the food. However, our most recent visit was extremely disappointing. Both meals were served lukewarm, the potatoes appeared undercooked, and the cauliflower cheese lacked cheese. The vegetables were overly crunchy, almost raw. Despite requesting for my meal to be reheated, it was returned to me unchanged in temperature. It is unfortunate that we were let down by this experience, as we were willing to pay the higher price for a good roast. After today, we would have preferred a meal from McDonald's. We do not plan on returning.

We visited this restaurant on Remembrance Sunday and were promptly seated and offered drinks. The service was good and we enjoyed a starter of Tempura prawns and squid, which was delicious but slightly overpriced at £11.75 for three prawns and three slices of squid. The roast beef was excellent - tender, succulent, and cooked to perfection. It was served with a variety of vegetables including cauliflower cheese, carrots, parsnips, roast potatoes, cabbage, leeks, and peas, along with a generous Yorkshire pudding. We were too full to try any desserts! Our total bill, including drinks and service, came to just over £80. Overall, we would recommend this restaurant. View menu

It saddens me to leave a negative review. After an unpleasant experience and for my message to have been ignored strikes unprofessional attitude from the management. myself and my wife booked a night away at your establishment as we have had such a romantic night previously and as it was our wedding anniversary. November 22nd we were squeezed into the bar as the restaurant area was booked for a corporate night and at times they packed the bar out and we felt uncomfortable. our night was further ruined by awful karaoke singing from the corporate area. we spoke to Luke the supervisor who was more than apologetic but i am afraid the damage was already done. we spent nearly £200 including drinks...
