"This restaurant provided an awful experience for us. We were attended to by three different individuals who were rude to us. Our plates and glasses were slammed onto our table, and when we asked a simple question about how the vegetables were served, we were met with eye rolls and sighs. It was truly an extraordinary experience. It seemed like we were being treated differently because we were a group of four visibly queer individuals, possibly due to homophobia among the staff. This was a sad situation. The food did not improve our experience either. The vegetarian Wellington was dry, the beef was overcooked and dry, the chicken seemed to be a basic supermarket chicken breast rather than a quality roast chicken, and the pre-sliced pork had no crackling. The only redeeming factors were the Yorkshire puddings and gravy, but they were not enough to make up for the overall poor and disheartening experience. We will not be returning to this establishment."

Lovely atmoshpere in the pub. The staff were very friendly and very helpful. The food Sunday lunch was super good choice and reasonably priced. Talking to the lady behind the bar, she is full of enthusiasm with lots of amazing ideas for the summer season. Well worth a visit.

Finally we have a pub in the local area that does great food! Menu has an excellent selection of interesting sounding dishes. Prices reasonable. Service and setting warm and friendly. As others mentioned staff professional and courteous. We throughly enjoyed our dinner and will definitely be back to try other menu offerings. Would definitely recommend.

Amazing experience. While on our narrowboat holiday, we decided to stop at this restaurant for a meal. The food and service were excellent, with generous portions that were delicious and satisfying. We enjoyed it so much that we decided to stay at the marina overnight and return the next evening for more food and drinks. The locals and the friendly landlady made us feel very welcome. We are already planning a return visit in the future.

Lives in the village four years and only now under new hands have myself and my family gone here. Under the old owenership, this place wasn’t friendly, inviting, welcoming or at all family friendly, however since the new landlord /or landlady have taken over they have put all the effort in to make it so. Building a children’s play apparatus outside in the beer garden with beautiful views of the river. Fairly priced beers. Lovely food. Great turn around. Props to them!!

Visited previously before COVID and just after lockdown. Was OK to stop for a quick drink while going downstream on our boat but was really pleased today when we gave it a try. Now have a good food menu freshly cooked and reasonably priced. Good selection of drinks and beer just right! The team were welcoming and helpful and definitely would make us want to go back. Will be visiting regularly and look forward to taking the grandchildren who I’m sure will love all the new play equipment.

The service was extremely slow, with our meal taking an hour to be served. The chips were cold and overcooked, and my granddaughter's Turkey Xmas lunch had burnt gravy, making it inedible. They offered us a different choice, but when we requested chicken nuggets and chips, we were told they only had mash. This led to us having to get her a meal from another restaurant, ruining our lunch experience. The atmosphere was dull, with nobody else in the dining area during our visit. However, we have enjoyed two nice meals during the week, cooked by the manager, with excellent food and a lovely atmosphere.

Since the pub closed a couple of years ago, we were sorely missing a local pub that we could go and enjoy a pint, some good food and some great company. When the new owners took over in December 2022 we couldn't wait to try it out. After an extensive refurbishment, we were absolutely delighted with what we found. The fire was roaring, the furnishings and fittings were fresh and inviting, the atmosphere and ambience were great, the service was first class with a lovely bunch of well trained, professional and courteous staff... and the food was amazing! We honestly love this pub now and go whenever we can. Thoroughly recommended for a Sunday Roast, lunchtime snack or evening meal. As well as j...

"We 're looking forward to trying the Pheasant again on a normal day. We went on Boxing Day and it was pretty disastrous. Meant to be a treat but it certainly wasn 't. Starters were nice, no cooking involved apart from the pesto. Then the mains. The beef was grey, not pink as I was told it would be but it was tender. The roast potatoes tasted a bit old but there were plenty. The Chantenay carrots were very soft. The Savoy cabbage was perfect but the portion was tiny. The gravy was nice but we got a different variety when we asked for more. The Yorkshire pudding was the main disaster; it seemed old, and very hard to the point of shattering. Desserts. The sticky toffee pudding was fine although the serving of sauce was very mean. The clotted cream with it is, in my opinion, the best way to serve this pudding, it 's a relief from all the sweetness. The apple crumble was terrible; it came in a bowl with the custard already in it with the pudding. The apple was sour and the crumble was squidgy stodge. The service was fine although some staff not yet fully professional. We would have expected a welcoming hello and goodbye but that didn 't happen. Our overall feeling was that there was serious penny pinching going on with the mains and desserts but this is a very bad idea when you are judged on your last meal but we do intend to try again because it 's such a wonderful building and we 've had many good experiences in The Pheasant, perhaps before the present owners, we 're not really sure."
