"We made a reservation at The Crown for Sunday, August 27th on June 6th. Our reservation was confirmed and we received a reminder the day before. However, when we arrived on the 27th, we were informed that the kitchen was closed. It was disappointing that they accepted our booking without honoring it or informing us. The bar staff's attitude was also poor. Additionally, we had to spend £15.00 each way on a cab."

The breakfast porridge was underwhelming, but the dinner meal was excellent.

The pub food is excellent and without any pretension, they offer a variety of nice beers and the service is very friendly.

Food was great. Had a burger. And they made a super salad for our vegetarian friend when the vege options weren't available.

Service was slow , despite there not being many people eating. Burgers were dry, my husband didn’t eat all of his. The brewery lager had run out. View menu

Good choice of evening meals. Very tasty indeed. New chef who made the effort to introduce himself and proactively cater for one of the party who is gluten free.

Lovely place. Food is good, staff were very helpful. The music could do with turning down a bit but I didn’t complain. I think it was only because there wasn’t many people in there on a Saturday lunch time.

all the choices were the right! go back safely to the blasphemy and squeaky for my main course. very good and please just go for that! I thank the cook personally for it and yes, the beer was his usual high standard. View menu

Brilliant service super friendly and welcoming. Sunday lunch menu limited 3 roasts, fish and chips and a burger (no vegetarian option on the menu). Our food was great let down only by the packet gravy all over the plate. Tasteless and gloopy.

Not the most inspiring meal one has ever had! I had the roast beef, which though cooked nicely, was spoiled by the great wedge of fat that accompanied the slice. Moreover, more vegetables would have made all the difference. Additionally, considering it was Father's day the place was empty...

"My wife and I ate here on a Sunday night, and were really impressed with what we found. It is a wine bar, which serves a reasonably extensive snack menu. Think of it like a French tapas kind of idea, with a number of small plates on offer to eat whilst sampling the many wines, rather than a traditional restaurant serving starters and mains. We ate the wild garlic pesto tartiflette, which was delicious, and also had a charcuterie board, with generous portions of iberico ham, parma ham and cooked ham, together with bread and chutney, which was equally delicious. The other plate we ordered was a prawn and avocado salad in a balsamic vinegar dressing. This too was really tasty and was a generous size. It being a wine bar, there are numerous wines on offer, but what we chose to do was the wine flight, where you each get three small glasses, each of a different wine. I chose the Bordeaux flight and my wife chose the Rioja flight. For about £15 each, we thought it was good value and enabled us to try six different wines for a reasonable price, all of which complemented the food perfectly. There are also both white and sparkling flights available, as well as a good wine list, most of which were very reasonably priced. The restaurant/bar itself is relatively small, and reminded me of a cosy ski lodge, with wood panels on the wall and nice bench seats. The atmosphere was very nice, and the service was excellent. All in all, it was a lovely evening and we really enjoyed our visit and would have no hesitation returning if we are ever in the area again."
