"My wife and I ate here on a Sunday night, and were really impressed with what we found. It is a wine bar, which serves a reasonably extensive snack menu. Think of it like a French tapas kind of idea, with a number of small plates on offer to eat whilst sampling the many wines, rather than a traditional restaurant serving starters and mains. We ate the wild garlic pesto tartiflette, which was delicious, and also had a charcuterie board, with generous portions of iberico ham, parma ham and cooked ham, together with bread and chutney, which was equally delicious. The other plate we ordered was a prawn and avocado salad in a balsamic vinegar dressing. This too was really tasty and was a generous size. It being a wine bar, there are numerous wines on offer, but what we chose to do was the wine flight, where you each get three small glasses, each of a different wine. I chose the Bordeaux flight and my wife chose the Rioja flight. For about £15 each, we thought it was good value and enabled us to try six different wines for a reasonable price, all of which complemented the food perfectly. There are also both white and sparkling flights available, as well as a good wine list, most of which were very reasonably priced. The restaurant/bar itself is relatively small, and reminded me of a cosy ski lodge, with wood panels on the wall and nice bench seats. The atmosphere was very nice, and the service was excellent. All in all, it was a lovely evening and we really enjoyed our visit and would have no hesitation returning if we are ever in the area again."

Another delicious lunch, we always leave Le Clos creaking at the seams. The prosecco was delicious too. We need to spend more time and try the flights. A really enjoyable, relaxing time as ever. View menu

Very good wine at very reasonable prices, served in sparklingly clean, fine wine glasses. We had 4 small glasses of different wines and created a wine tasting! Really fun. The food is simple and very high standard. The owner is very welcoming and helpful with wheelchair access (the loo is accessible and had an arrangement of fragrant fresh lilies).

Had dinner with friends at Le Clos in July 2023. To be honest, this was not our first choice because of location but one of the few places opened for dinner on a Sunday night in the area. We had a great evening. All four for of us had a different flight of wines and we shared the various dishes we ordered, which were all delicious. Definitely recommend

As Wallingford locals we feel fortunate to have Le Clos on our doorstop it is a truly special place, not just your average, run of the mill wine bar. They have an impressive range of excellent wines and the food is consistently delicious. We particularly like the wine flight option which gives you the chance to try three small glasses of different wines. Food wise, the tartes flambée are superb (particularly the gratinee which comes with bacon and cheese). We have also tried the charcuterie board and the pork pate, both of which were delicious, and portions are very generous. We’re already looking forward to our next visit. View menu

Me and my wife wanted a spontaneous dinner out on a Wednesday so thought we would try here to see if they had any space as we’ve previously been here before and the food and wine was great. However when we walked in we saw who I assume was the manager? Talking to a couple at a table so we patiently waited. She then turned around and said ‘can I help you’ in the rudest way almost as if she was confused that we had walked in!!! We asked if she had any space for 2 and she looked around, huffed and said ‘no we’re full’ then turned back around! It was a very uncomfortable and quite frankly embarrassing experience as there was a lot of people in the restaurant This was such a shame as we usually l...

Visited tonight and had to write a review immediately! What an amazing little find, and completely unexpected. We were staying locally and stumbled upon this gorgeous place purely by accident when looking for a bite to eat on a Wednesday evening. On a wonderful summers evening we were greeted by knowledgeable and friendly staff, and shown to a table outside. They were full inside (another good sign midweek) and had a few sitting in the pedestrianised walkway outside. The menu is full of flavour, tradition and delight. After a brief explanation from the manager (who was lovely) we settled upon the special of the wild garlic pesto tarlette accompanied by a charcuterie sharing board. Our waitre...

"We usually love coming to Cafe Rouge in Henley, always a treat for us and we are always looking forward to it. However the most recent visit was awful and it’s been going downhill over our last coupes of visits. We booked a table for my father in laws birthday. Upon being seated, we were informed that 3 of the main course dishes were unavailable.. pretty much half of the ‘mains’ options. We don’t come to Cafe Rouge for Burgers or salad! We opted for 3 portions of Mussels as had them here before and they’re very good! Mother in law just had pate as there was nothing else she wanted. These were possibly the worst mussels we’ve ever had. You could tell they weren’t fresh (cooked from frozen for sure) and there was barely any sauce in the pot! Usually they are flavourful and abundant in sauce! No check back was performed by the manager on duty..it was a quiet Monday so wasn’t exactly run off his feet. So we couldn’t alert him. Even upon clearing we weren’t ask how our meal was! Just asked if we had finished. We decided to mention they were awful to which the manager told us he would inform the kitchen. When he came back to finish clearing, my partner asked if they were frozen or fresh mussels, to which the manager replied yes, they are frozen. Wasn’t expecting that but you could totally tell! They tasted like cardboard! We had a coffee and a pudding and to be fair to the manager he didn’t charge us for one portion of mussels and the coffees we ordered. The Bill was certainly not worth what we had. Didn’t leave a tip, which we never normally do, but the service was non existent. Manager was more interested in what was on his phone. Won’t be rushing back"
