"My wife and I ate here on a Sunday night, and were really impressed with what we found. It is a wine bar, which serves a reasonably extensive snack menu. Think of it like a French tapas kind of idea, with a number of small plates on offer to eat whilst sampling the many wines, rather than a traditional restaurant serving starters and mains. We ate the wild garlic pesto tartiflette, which was delicious, and also had a charcuterie board, with generous portions of iberico ham, parma ham and cooked ham, together with bread and chutney, which was equally delicious. The other plate we ordered was a prawn and avocado salad in a balsamic vinegar dressing. This too was really tasty and was a generous size. It being a wine bar, there are numerous wines on offer, but what we chose to do was the wine flight, where you each get three small glasses, each of a different wine. I chose the Bordeaux flight and my wife chose the Rioja flight. For about £15 each, we thought it was good value and enabled us to try six different wines for a reasonable price, all of which complemented the food perfectly. There are also both white and sparkling flights available, as well as a good wine list, most of which were very reasonably priced. The restaurant/bar itself is relatively small, and reminded me of a cosy ski lodge, with wood panels on the wall and nice bench seats. The atmosphere was very nice, and the service was excellent. All in all, it was a lovely evening and we really enjoyed our visit and would have no hesitation returning if we are ever in the area again."

"We usually love coming to Cafe Rouge in Henley, always a treat for us and we are always looking forward to it. However the most recent visit was awful and it’s been going downhill over our last coupes of visits. We booked a table for my father in laws birthday. Upon being seated, we were informed that 3 of the main course dishes were unavailable.. pretty much half of the ‘mains’ options. We don’t come to Cafe Rouge for Burgers or salad! We opted for 3 portions of Mussels as had them here before and they’re very good! Mother in law just had pate as there was nothing else she wanted. These were possibly the worst mussels we’ve ever had. You could tell they weren’t fresh (cooked from frozen for sure) and there was barely any sauce in the pot! Usually they are flavourful and abundant in sauce! No check back was performed by the manager on duty..it was a quiet Monday so wasn’t exactly run off his feet. So we couldn’t alert him. Even upon clearing we weren’t ask how our meal was! Just asked if we had finished. We decided to mention they were awful to which the manager told us he would inform the kitchen. When he came back to finish clearing, my partner asked if they were frozen or fresh mussels, to which the manager replied yes, they are frozen. Wasn’t expecting that but you could totally tell! They tasted like cardboard! We had a coffee and a pudding and to be fair to the manager he didn’t charge us for one portion of mussels and the coffees we ordered. The Bill was certainly not worth what we had. Didn’t leave a tip, which we never normally do, but the service was non existent. Manager was more interested in what was on his phone. Won’t be rushing back"

"so. for a kick-off, this place has many potentials and is a very attractive and beautifully positioned place, right at the main train of the fair mile at henley on thames. good. that said the experience of our meal was less than satisfactory. After we decided that we didn't want to start and have only preferred a main course, we were surprised that our food came out within 5 minutes after the order and was ploned before us. that's good, but what we were greeted by has given us the feeling that we were back. the 80s with a beefeater art of experience. my friends steak was floppy and looked like something from tesco for 3 pfund and her veg was overcooked and black. with young, trunk broccoli, they only need to blanche for 2-3 minutes, as they wipe very quickly. on my head. this was 4 crevettes, deep fryed with a dressing that was good; no problems there at all and a lacking 1970 style prawn cocktail with super market marie the rosesoße pressed about what had been frozen on the bed of the shrunk iceberg salad. the chips, were stacked on the side and were dry and bleeding to be honest. no taste, and they were probably too long in the many remaining ofenchips. When I came back from the gents, I found my friend who knows the very polite and young waitress that eating was not good at all. that said the ingredients were good, it was how they were cooked and presented. pretty awful. each cook worth weight white how to cook a good steak and present young veg without being floppy and crowned. then we saw the young waitress who left the owner who then went to empty us. I guess she was upset that we had complained. I understand, but this is not professional and shows a significant lack of customer service as home personnel. the barman was polite and we paid quickly. we couldn't get out fast enough."

"I have had a few take away meals from The Vine Spice and enjoyed them, so my wife and I treated friends to a meal at the restaurant there. Sadly and surprisingly I was extremely disappointed. One of our friend 's found that the chicken in their meal was undercooked (it was still pale pink and highlighted this to staff. It was taken away and a replacement given. The chicken in this was cooked fine, but the sauce was now much more watery and lacked flavour due to this (the other had a nice, thick creamy sauce . My wife and I are both vegan and member of staff taking our order didn 't seem too sure what this meant. During our meal, we had 3 different members of staff coming up asking us the same questions rather than one member of staff being given responsibility for this role. All the staff were very polite, but it was a little disconcerting to be trying to have a conversation only for another member of staff interrupt to ask a question asked a few minutes previously (e.g. whether everything was alright, whether we required any more drink etc. Our vegan curries had several hard pieces of veg (we don 't overcook our veg and enjoy a slight bite to them, but numerous bits of veg were virtually raw and must 've been chucked into the sauce moments before dishing up and my wife found some onion with the root still attached. Also, I did find the meal to be expensive for what you get. Given this experience, I won 't be getting any more meals from The Vine Spice ."

"We came to see Coda, but ended up with Letz Zep our first visit to this little pub. The food was ok and the event itself was reasonable even though it was raining and the tents leaked plus the lead singer should have given up a long time ago ! Whlie I initially liked the village pub feel almost like my own village so the wobbly tables and broken bits I just viewed as quirky it quickly became clear there were some weird policies. The website said we must call and book our car parking in advance so we did, only to be told we didn 't need to at all so why put it on the website? . The loo downstairs, which I was directed to in the intermission, was really gross brown water in the loo and baby changing right next to it. Definitely needs a good clean, as did the ladies inside I was glad to be at an event outside tbh. The food also had to be ordered in advance and the website said must be paid for in cash although on the night they said that too was not the case and we could pay by card again, why put it on the website? . Then I tried to buy a glass of wine to go with my £8 potatoe no salad, no garnish at all and was told I must buy a whole bottle for £23. I 've only come across that policy at the big exploitative 80s festivals and was quite shocked. When I queried I was told I 'd have fun if I drank a whole bottle and if not I could complain to the landlady. I declined to do that at the time, choosing instead to feedback via email, privately. I duly sent an emailI and then responsded to theirs saying please let us know should the policy change. The next day I received yet another email, tis time from the landlady, telling me basically that I should have come to see her at the time and why I was incorrect in my feedback. I replied, because all the reasons she gave for not selling wine by the glass made no actual logial sense, esp because they weren 't applied to any other measures of alcohol ... I then received a very long email from the landlord accusing me of sending long tiresome emails and telling me how in the wrong I am and that they obviously cannot placate me. Sadly it 's evidently that this is our pub and if you like it you 're welcome, but if you give us any feedback we don 't agree with, then you are an unreasonable customer! . A great shame that feedback is received so unprofessionally and the overreaction was so rude, especially considering selling wine by the glass and bottle is entirely normal, and boxes of wine actually work our cheaper . A pretty dismal night has become a very negative experience for me, and I 'm reminded yet again not to bother trying to feedback privately it 's not appreicated should have just written this review to begin with."

"NEW OWNERS NOW RUN THIS PUB FROM 1ST-June-2023. (Kazik Sonja) I recently had the pleasure of visiting my local pub, and I must say that it exceeded all my expectations. (Kazik Sonja) have done a fantastic job in getting this up and running. Passing by of my neighborhood, The Fat Fox Inn has become a spot for locals and visitors alike. From a nice ambiance to the impeccable service and delightful offerings, this place has truly won me over as a local. In the passed The Fat Fox Inn has gone through a couple of landlords in the past 4 to 5yrs and great to hear someone has taken the reins to point this pub in the right with real pub grub food. In July 2023 this pub will also be offering B B let 's, however these rooms are still being renovated and 'YES their is Parking available too directly behind the pub on site. Walking into The Fat Fox Inn, I was immediately greeted by a friendly and attentive staff and the owners.(Kazik Sonja). The atmosphere was inviting, with its dimly lit space, rustic décor, and comfortable seating arrangements. Whether you 're looking for a lively gathering or a quiet evening with friends, this pub caters to all moods and occasions I found. The pub 's drink selection is okay for me, but it is a personal decision when it comes to selection of drinks and it 's Wines, featuring a range of beers, a good-curated wine list, and an array of spirits. The bar staff 's local knowledge is great too, because these staff are local to the area which helps. When it comes to the food, The Fat Fox Inn truly shines. The menu offers a delightful mix of classic pub fare and innovative dishes that are sure to please any palate. (See my photos) From the juicy burgers and perfectly seasoned fries. Even to the flavorful on every dish which is prepared with care and presented beautifully. The quality and freshness of the ingredients are evident, and the portions are generous too. What truly sets The Fat Fox Inn apart is its commitment is to creating a welcoming and inclusive environment (Wheelchair accessible front and back) 2x Front doors and Garden rear Door) Another aspect worth mentioning is the friendly service. The staff members at The Fat Fox Inn are incredibly attentive, friendly, and knowledgeable like I said earlier. They go above and beyond to ensure that every guest feels valued and leaves with a smile. Whether you need recommendations from the menu or want to know more about the drink offerings or anything local, the staff is always ready to assist. Overall, The Fat Fox Inn is going to be a gem back to the village that has everything you could want in a neighborhood town pub. It combines a cozy atmosphere, a diverse drink selection, delectable food, and exceptional service to create a great experience. If you 're looking for a place to unwind after a long day or drive, catch up with friends, or simply enjoy good pub grub food and drinks in a welcoming atmosphere, I wholeheartedly recommend The Fat Fox Inn. It 's a true local, and yes it 's my local and a place that hopefully keep you coming back for more of their great food. Sorry for the long review! Please check out my photos most recently taken 8th-June-2023. Service: 5 Location: 4 Hotel highlights: Great value"

"Had a bewilderingly terrible experience 3 weeks ago. At 12pm on Saturday I phoned to book for 8 people at 2pm the same day. My booking was taken with no problem. On arrival the pub was basically empty with a couple of people eating inside and a few drinking outside. We put in our food order and waited at least half an hour with no update from staff on our food or anyone coming to see if we wanted more drinks. We asked about our food and were told it was coming. We had to specifically ask for some water for the table. More time passed and then the manager came over to say there was only one chef on (not that unusual for a quiet pub in the middle of Saturday afternoon and he hadn't made a calzone before so he had had to teach him there and then(! Still no offer of more drinks. The food eventually arrived about an hour after ordering. It was surprisingly alright even the calzone! When we came to pay we were given the bill with no offer of taking any money off or goodwill drinks. My wife went to the bar to say we didn't want to pay the full amount and they offered to take the 10% service charge off, which they'd had the audacity to add before giving us the bill! To top it all off, my wife knocked on the kitchen door to ask if they had a container so we could take away some of our food, and she saw the chef eating coleslaw out of the tub with a spoon! We have since checked the Food Standards Agency website to find that an inspection in March 2023 gave this pub 2 out of 5 (improvement necessary . Just wanted to warn anyone else who was planning to eat here please check whether they have made any improvements before booking a table. Vegetarian options: There are veggie and vegan options. Dietary restrictions: There were vegan options."
