"Had a bewilderingly terrible experience 3 weeks ago. At 12pm on Saturday I phoned to book for 8 people at 2pm the same day. My booking was taken with no problem. On arrival the pub was basically empty with a couple of people eating inside and a few drinking outside. We put in our food order and waited at least half an hour with no update from staff on our food or anyone coming to see if we wanted more drinks. We asked about our food and were told it was coming. We had to specifically ask for some water for the table. More time passed and then the manager came over to say there was only one chef on (not that unusual for a quiet pub in the middle of Saturday afternoon and he hadn't made a calzone before so he had had to teach him there and then(! Still no offer of more drinks. The food eventually arrived about an hour after ordering. It was surprisingly alright even the calzone! When we came to pay we were given the bill with no offer of taking any money off or goodwill drinks. My wife went to the bar to say we didn't want to pay the full amount and they offered to take the 10% service charge off, which they'd had the audacity to add before giving us the bill! To top it all off, my wife knocked on the kitchen door to ask if they had a container so we could take away some of our food, and she saw the chef eating coleslaw out of the tub with a spoon! We have since checked the Food Standards Agency website to find that an inspection in March 2023 gave this pub 2 out of 5 (improvement necessary . Just wanted to warn anyone else who was planning to eat here please check whether they have made any improvements before booking a table. Vegetarian options: There are veggie and vegan options. Dietary restrictions: There were vegan options."

"Well...what can I say about The Pizza Café in Wallingford, other than that it is the best pizza for miles. Since moving to the area in October last year, I had extensively looked around for a decent pizza and happened upon these guys. Their Four Cheese pizza is to die for! Always a win when you find a good strong blue like Dolcelatte although i prefer gorgonzola....won't mark you down for that ; So tasty and since the first, I haven't looked anywhere else. "I couldn't help but think that Cinnamons could attract more customers, especially the construction workers living nearby at Wheatley Brookes University Campus, if they improved their food and service. Currently, the lack of positive word-of-mouth reviews from first-time customers is hurting their reputation. Without proper advertising, many locals may not even know about the restaurant, let alone be enticed to try it out. While I support local businesses, I believe that Cinnamons needs to put more effort into improving their offerings. The chicken pakora I received was unappetizing, resembling overcooked chicken dippers rather than traditional pakora. For the same amount of time and cost, I could have prepared a better alternative using frozen chicken dippers from the supermarket. I have attached photos as proof of my disappointment with the food. Overall, I'm unsure whether to feel sorry for Cinnamons or to hold them accountable for their lackluster standards. As a local establishment, they have the potential to attract more customers, but only if they prioritize quality and customer satisfaction."

Cherry Tree Inn

"This is a lovely, family-run pub with a terrific breakfast. We stayed in Cherry which was very comfy with separate access from the pub, tea-making things, piping hot water. We had a very nice chat with Dan over the Full English and smoked salmon with scrambled egg. Ditto with a one of couple of non-residents who came in for breakfast too. Stoke Row has a fascinating history with its ornate well and cherry orchard given by an Indian maharaja and the surrounding beech woods are fabulous, specially at this time of year. Many thanks, Dan and to your lively family. Hope the maths homework went down well! Rooms: 5 Service: 5 Location: 5"

"The restaurant has recently changed ownership and the improvements are remarkable. The staff is incredibly friendly and the food is outstanding. It's great value for money and the dishes are delicious. They offer a wide selection for both adults and kids, with a fantastic three-course Sunday Roast option featuring beef, lamb, pork, chicken, and vegetarian choices. The restaurant also has a playground where kids can play freely. It's definitely worth a visit if you have young children and want them to have a great time."

"we have in the cartshed many times in the run of the years at a point that visits weekly to breakfast. we have often seen the owners and entertained with the staff and one of the chefs. we were regularly the only guests who enjoy an early breakfast on a...Saturday morning during the lockdown. the service seemed to go down a few months ago so we stopped going. we started a few weeks ago, but our visit on Saturday left us. here is the list of things that went wrong: false eggs on an early piece. extrabutter toast was barely baked (see photo.) when I was asked for butter, a sharp answer was given to me that it has already been throttled." the breakfast came out again, with the right one, but only one. another fried egg was delivered, but was stone cold. braided to the counter and was filled with what it is this time." I also asked for replacement butter toast. the breakfast appears as ordered, my man almost finished his breakfast in this phase. then something toast is delivered with a sarcastic “hope it has enough butter for you” – it looked like it had been bathed in butter. then I asked to cancel the breakfast order and a refund. while all this hasn't even excused anyone. another waitress appeared and gave me money back for the breakfast (not for the drink or extra toast.) I then went to the counter and asked for a card refund – as I had paid from the card and also asked to repay toast. the waitress said, "Why are you giving me all these shy?" I was amazed, I only made a very valid complaint, so was quite shocked by this. she ran into the kitchen and said, "that b*tch is out there." I was so shocked. another employee appeared and gave me the refund, as required by law, back to the debit card. I was thinking about how I complained about it. I know the personal would not behave like that if the owners were there. I tried to contact the owners directly, but no one answers the phone. Anyway, on the read reply to other reviews from the cartshed, I decided to post this. this was a true representation of events. make sure that if they complain about the service here, out fear of the hurried, cried a b*tch and ended very hungry. and yes, the prices have increased exactly as expected in view of the current climate, but eating it is not worth and the service is not available. let us see how the cartshed reacts to this review."

"Disappointing. Booked Sunday lunch and specifically asked if they did gluten free which they confirmed they did. Unfortunately when we got there the only gf starter was parsnip soup without bread, the gf roast meant simply removing half the plate (the Yorkshire and stuffing etc) but still charged the same price and the only gf dessert was lemon sorbet. The menu looked lovely with a good number of choices for non gf so it’s a shame they can’t be bothered to cater for dietary requirements (or perhaps don’t make their food fresh to be able to adapt it). How on earth a prawn cocktail can’t be offered as gf if it came without bread is beyond me! If they’d been honest about the incredibly limited choices we’d have gone elsewhere and been able to actually enjoy a proper Sunday lunch. Won’t be returning"

"Very nice café in central Thame. There were plenty of people and the food was great. My only suggestion was that the tuna mayo wrap I had was a little plain, maybe it could have been livened up a bit with some red onion etc, but that's just me! The ploughman's sandwich also looked good. I'll come back to try the hot menu! Good atmosphere, location and prices."

"I have been to this lovely little country pub a couple of times in the past week. The first was for drinks and the service was excellent as was the ambience. Its a small pub but lovely on the inside and a perfect setting on a sunny day outside. There is a rear patio that is also good for outdoor dining. I've also been here last weekend for one of the best Sunday pub lunches that I have ever had! The chicken wing starts were amazing and came with a healthy amount of tasty sauce. I had the road lamb which, as the title of this review says, was as good as it gets. I can't think of a better sunday pub lunch good sized servings, beautifully cooked and served with excellent, friendly service. Well done to all at the Bull Inn you have created a perfect little pub :"

"Popped in here yesterday in search on a non-alcoholic beverage as there was a distinct lack of these at bunkfest. It was very busy because of the nature of the weekend which is completely understandable, however what I thought was rather off was the attitude of the bartender (potential owner) shouting across the bar at customers to organise themselves otherwise they wouldn’t get served, especially as there was a distinct lack of signs showing people where they should be standing. Maybe another staff member would have been helpful? This pub was clearly benefitting from the event outside and I felt the attitude wasn’t fitting for the overall atmosphere. Left without buying anything in the end."

"From the moment we went in the reception seemed very casual and uninterested. Tried to order the Prosecco and then the cheaper champagne n the menu but they said only had champagne at £45. Ordered other drinks and they came wrongly and with very abrupt service. They only showed any interest in our custom when we said we were leaving and walked out. Never going back. Went to Delhi Brasserie instead and had great meal"

"When we arrived I was really pleased as all the tables had tablecloths and cloth napkins. We ordered poppadoms and prickles which were nice, and I ordered a Thai chicken curry and my nephew ordered a vegetable curry along vegetable noodles. When the curries arrived they looked exactly the same, and I think they were. The one I was given didn’t have any chicken in it, so went back to kitchen. When my dish returned it looked entirely different, and it had chicken in it, but it also had aubergine which I am allergic to. I had to pick the aubergine out. We didn’t have the experience I was hoping for, it was very disappointing. There were only two other people in the restaurant so it wasn’t busy, goodness knows how they managed to get my meal so wrong."

"I use this place regularly for a drink and once or twice before for food. There’s nothing wrong with the staff all bar a couple of them. They’ve got communal toilet which is labelled baby changing, everyone uses this staff included! I chose not to not being lazy to walk upstairs! I’ve had to pull them on measures a couple of times, they’re quite happy to poor under the legal requirement. I was in this place probably an hour plus, in this time no one in or came in ate. I went to the toilet just before the end of my visit and walked passed the kitchen as you do and found this….."

"Visited today intending to have lunch. It wasn’t initially very busy. Twice we asked a waitress if we could order food. The first time we were told she would get our drinks then return to take our food order. When the drinks arrived we again asked if we could place our order. She said she would go get a note pad pen. She didn’t return. Soon after that a large group of walkers arrived. Most went into the pub to get drinks before sitting down outside. Very soon a waitress appeared proceeded to take their food orders. Seeing this we decided not to order food as we would have a very long time to wait while their food was prepared! We often have lunch here after a dog walk have always found it very friendly were intending to return next week for lunch with a friend but are now going to try to find an alternative venue. Shame!"

"This restaurant offers a delicious meal in a charming setting. The only improvement needed is to adjust the lighting to dimmers. The service was extremely friendly and prompt. The roast dish was both tasty and reasonably priced. I highly recommend this pub as a great stopover in Oxford. It was a pleasant experience for a Sunday lunch. Thank you. Price per person ranges from £20 to £30. Food and service both rated a 5, while the atmosphere was rated a 4."

"very disappointed by the argyll for mothers day. literally for mothers day there was no knowledge of who we were so completely missed spelt out aftername, ordered dinner roast pork lamb sponge was more fat than meat, for apfelsoße a no show. Mothers...get free glass of prosecco, not pass the daffodil in the vase was so dead that it had to melt into the window out of the way, no customer service at all, very disappointed. will I not go back"

"For the price, the rooms were okay. They were a little dirty and one of the spot lights did fall out of the ceiling in the bathroom, but otherwise, the bed was comfy and I had everything I needed. Dinner was also okay, I had the pork belly but it didn't come with a sauce or gravy to tie the dish together so it ended up being a bit dry. Breakfast was sub par. I did expect better. All in all, I will consider staying again, but I think by spending a little extra, you could get a bigger room and an altogether nicer experience."

"Two lovely lunches at The Six Bells this week. Stopped off on the way to a short break in Oxford and enjoyed it so much we repeated the experience on way back. "Walked in... Got told not to sit at any of the tables that we wanted to.... Atmosphere was dead. Felt most unwelcome. My friend had lost something and had asked the lady behind the bar to search for it in case she had put it in the bin... my friend and I were snapped at and we waited and waited for her to look for us. Then when my friend had to look for her expensive item, she was told not to look in that specific place. Drinks were poured with a half smile... So, we just decided to go elsewhere after finishing our drinks. The Crown on the high street has a better atmosphere, hands down! The staff at the crown are friendlier and more accommodating. My advice? Just go up the road to The Crown. No competition I'm afraid."

"First time I went there the eggs were cooked to perfection, asked for medium to well and the server, older lady was very accommodating. Delicious breakfast with avacado. The next 2 times were disappointing. Eggs are either runny or very well done to the point of being dried up. Quality of food overall is good though. Maybe get scrambled rather than poached. Nice location if you like dogs. Staff rubbing customers dogs, one did wash his hands before serving food."
