"I was extremely disappointed with this restaurant. The menu was very limited and the dishes we ordered were not as good as we had hoped. I had the steak while my husband had the pork belly. The steak came with just half a mushroom, a small amount of green vegetable, and a tablespoon of gravy. The accompanying mini shepherd's pie was dry and lacked flavor. The pork belly was mostly fat with very little meat, served with minimal sauce and a small bowl of mashed potatoes. Both the wines we wanted were not available, and we ended up settling for a more expensive option that was not very good. The starters and desserts were also unimpressive. Our bill totaled £191, even with the pork dish taken off, and we did not feel it was worth the cost. To make matters worse, it was my husband's birthday, and this dining experience fell far short of our expectations based on the reviews we had read. There are definitely better restaurants out there."

A large group of us had the 8 course tasting menu on a Saturday evening. The food was delicious and the service was very good. Really recommend!

Was falsely sold this pub as coeliac friendly. Out of 4 mains only 1 truly freefrom. Appetiser was gf but no bread and only 1 pudding option which wasn't on the menu. As a coeliac very disappointing for choices. Definitely NOT gluten free but could adapt. Lovely meal otherwise

Outstanding pub! The staff were so lovely, kind and genuine! The food smelt great but sadly I didn’t have any this time! The beer was lovely and fresh. The two ladies behind the bar were so friendly, happy and accommodating. It’s one of the nicest pubs I have been to in a long time!! View menu

Excellent food. Pork belly delicious. Mushroom soup as amuse bouche very tasty. Service excellent and friendly. When I booked I mentioned that it was a birthday celebration mid week. We didn’t have desserts but they brought a plate with “happy birthday” written on in chocolate with a couple of chocolates very nice touch and made the evening even more special.

Our experience at this restaurant was fantastic. The service was outstanding from the moment we walked in. The menu offered a wide variety of options, and we decided to try the cod fillets which were cooked perfectly and tasted delicious. The restaurant was also reasonably priced, offering good value for the quality of food. We are already looking forward to returning in the future!

Stayed the night in our camper and it was one of our best stops yet. Lovely pub with lovely staff. Lucky enough to have Sunday lunch and it was one of the best we've had for a long time. Noting the suppliers and distances the ingredients had been sourced from on the menu was a nice touch. We knew exactly where all 3 course had come from! It was busy service, but the staff coped well and we're very friendly. View menu

Not been there for a while but not disappointed saturday night visit got busy at 8pm. Seated at 1845 Menu is reassuringly short and reasonable in price for dishes that all had a but of a twist. This is not somewhere for burgers and chips nor do I think it is a place for young children Pork Belly excellent. Portions ok and beautifully presented. Waldorf salad just fantastic Service good for us but by 8pm the front of house team was clearly stretched Great place for special nights

I rated the overall ambiance of the restaurant as excellent because it was delightful. However, when I took my friend for a drink, I ordered a bottle of Rosé and a bag of Pipers crisps which totaled £39.00. Later on, I ordered just one glass of Rosé and was charged £13.00. I understand that businesses need to make a profit, but I found the prices to be overly expensive. I had heard that Duck on the Pond was on the pricier side, but this was just excessive. It's disappointing because I enjoy supporting local establishments, but I will not be returning. Instead, we will enjoy our drinks in my beautiful garden and purchase the same wine from the supermarket for £8.00.

"I don't know what on earth happened last night when we had dinner here, the reviews looked good, and we're struggling to understand how. We're very easily pleased and takes a lot to prompt a complaint, but we had an absolutely awful experience. My partner ordered the belly pork off the specials board, and it turned up on a side plate, a very few overcooked bits of diced pork thrown in with a few veg. I had the cauliflower with braised lentils, this turned out to be a few mainly burnt cauliflower florets thrown into a plate of sludgy lentils. The chunky chips we ordered came out as skinny fries, not a big deal but just added to the general lack of care. We were both mortified, to the point of embarrassment. We ate it as we were hungry and there was nowhere else to go as we were staying at a local campsite. One of the team took the plates away, and another brought the bill. Neither of them asked us how the meal was, else we'd have said how disappointed we were. So we just left, just as the table next to ours was commenting on the small portion sizes of their food. We should have complained but we were hungry, disappointed, tired and just wanted to leave and simply couldn't face the confrontation in the busy setting. No excuses but that's how it was. We are very relaxed easy going people but this was a truly disappointing meal and experience and we felt robbed of £45 instead of enjoying what we'd hoped would be a lovely Saturday night out and special occasion."
