"My wife and I were welcomed into the sun and ushered to a table by lovely waitress. We had a hook ale from the brewery down the road- very nice! I enjoyed an excellent sunday pork roast (me) with all trimmings. Particularly the best carrot and parsnips. Really nice gravy. The most splendid yorkshire. Potatoes were so crisp- the chef really does the veges so so well. My wife had fish and chips. The fish had the best batter and the chips very good. Homemade tartare I think- very nice. Normally she does not like the tartare but this seemed fresh and worked well with grilled lemon. We left big tip and will come back again next month when on holiday- forget Chipping Norton, they all overcharge and the customers and hosts out here in the country are quieter and more friendly"

Came here for a few pints with friends during our staycation. I was pleasantly surprised with how big the beer garden was. It was stunning. Decent selection of beers too.

We went to the Sun Inn for the first time today. Recommended by the Hook Norton Brewery. We were over the moon. Wonderful food and good service. Except staff were moving tables around and instead of picking g them up..dragging them and making a racket. Try picking them up next time.

We went for a meal to The Sun in Hook Norton because we were staying at The pear Tree which didn’t do food. And it was really nice at The Sun Food was extremely delicious. We had the chicken and mushroom pie. Fantastic. Gravy we had with it was so tasty. They should do more pies of unusual different flavours it would go down a treat. And different flavoured mashed potatoes. View menu

A fantastic Cotswold Pub that has a very welcoming atmosphere to humans and dogs alike ! Beers flowing from the local brewery are complimented by delicious food fresh from the kitchen. I highly recommend the chips... But what really sets this pub apart from many others in the area is the efficiency, friendliness and outstanding attitude of the staff who go out of their way to make every single patron feel at home in The Sun.

Stayed here on a cycling trip. Room 1 was fairly basic but the bathroom was very good and clean. We had our evening meal in the restaurant and there was a good selection of standard pub food well prepared and presented. Service was excellent and attentive. The only gripe was the midweek breakfast which is advertised as 'continental. In reality it consisted of a couple of packaged pastries and basic fruit from a communal fridge downstairs and a few mini boxes of cereal to be eaten in our room sat on the beds as there was no table. Still can 't complain about the cost of the room or the evening meal. Overall this was an almost perfect pub in an idyllic Cotswold village. Well worth a visit mayb...

"I’m frustrated and annoyed with booking a romantic meal for our year wedding anniversary, with the current pandemic and work commitments it made a change to make an effort and be excited to visit the boxing hare as the reviews had been excellent. We...were seated in the garden room, next to a family who were on first name terms with the waiting staff and who were so loud I thought I was at a Chelsea match! We received complimentary glasses of champagne and we placed our order for starters and main which were excellent however I felt rushed with the service, as much as I tried to have a conversation all I could hear was this family at decibels to which enough was enough usually I would say something, however rather than ruin there evening I asked for us to be reseated to which the waiting staff were in agreement that they were loud! So why place us next to them? We were given a table in a different part of the pub still busy with other diners giving respect to one another. The table given I was advised I had as it was reserved? I placed dessert order and two lattes with baileys followed by the bill! The bill was a tad on the steep side for a gastro pub perhaps the prices are based on the price of fuel to fill the owners Bentley Overall felt it was a rushed evening disappointed with the seating arrangements,I won’t be returning as I felt what was important to us wasn’t important to the Boxing Hare I’ve had better evenings at The Falkland Arms Great Tew, The Great Western Aynho"
