"So we were visiting my daughter in Uni and walked past this place and it looked nice, we went in and asked for a table but they said they were fully booked but had some seats outside, it was a lovely day so we decided to eat outside. Anyway we ordered at the bar very reasonable price and then headed for the food. Let me just say this point that the Chief on the day 15/10/23 was super friendly and really made the effort, he even asked if would would like more meat first time I've been asked that in a Carvery his smile and friendliness really made the difference, infact all the staff were smiling and polite. The food was lovely and fresh and tasty, the kids ones 18 lol didn't have the roast dinner but they also loved there food as well. This was my first time here but it wont be my last but as the winter months are coming i will book in Advance. Once again I will say the Chef and the staff were brilliant"

Really great selection of vegan and vegetarian options which meant all 4 of us had plenty to choose from. Some good ales too. Excellent friendly service and good atmosphere.

Had an evening meal here. Can honestly say this is a rare find, somewhere with such friendly service, great quality food and good value. We cannot fault this place and would definitely recommend. Thank you

If you gonna go make sure Mike's cooking cos he does it best! Originally hayling from Grenada he's now a living local. Typical carvery with extra side of cheesy leaks.. Mmmmm Farmers Union is one of Exeter's finest. Great food and the staff are lovely too. Just be sure to give H a smile cos he's the best.

My friends and I went to a carvery at this restaurant over the weekend. We made a reservation before arriving in Exeter. It was good value for the money, but unfortunately the food wasn't very hot. The vegetable options were not great and there wasn't a wide selection. The pigs in blankets did have blankets, though.

We ordered steak meals and the steaks tasted like they had been cooked in the fish fryer and you could not taste the steak Also the menu on pub website is out of date as the prices are higher and on the website it says there a variety of potatoes types to choose from but today it was a choice of chips or mash ,the meal also tasted a bit greasy ,we did not feel it was worth the money we paid

We went to this restaurant today for a Sunday carvery and were blown away by the amazing food. We had never had a Sunday roast like this before! The staff were incredibly friendly and helpful. I want to give a special shoutout to Michael, the chef, who went above and beyond to make our visit enjoyable, especially for our 9-year-old son. He even played a game of pool with him! Michael is a lovely man and a true asset to the establishment. We will definitely be returning on our next trip to Exeter.

Went in for Sunday carvery, very disappointed, roast potatoes and parsnips were rock hard and completely dry, they must have been cooked the day before, unable to get a knife through! The beef was fatty and over cooked, the veg had been sat under heat lamps and had dried out and all the food Luke warm, not a good choice of veg, cheeses leak was very bland!Chef didn’t want to know, just said ‘oh well’! I’d be embarrassed if I was a chef and had this food displayed on my counter, take it away and replace with fresh! Chef needs sacking! I will not be returning!

This pub is conveniently located near the hotel where we were staying and is a great spot for a quick drink, a bite to eat, or a game of pool. We stopped in for breakfast one morning and the chef had no problem whipping up a Bacon Sandwich and a Sausage Sandwich for us. The menu is simple but offers a good variety and accommodates dietary needs. We also returned for dinner one evening and my husband really enjoyed the Chilli Con Carne. I opted for Spaghetti from the Children's menu, which was also tasty and came with Garlic Bread. After a day exploring the city, we relaxed with drinks at the bar and enjoyed the friendly bartender and the local patrons. The pub had a cozy atmosphere and the p...

"Owner rude and arrogant! And you can’t trust them and they won’t make your order right by just saying too busy to make it right! I called in to make a booking but told no tables available but I could place an order for takeaway so I ordered two gluten free pizzas. I also asked what size are the gluten free pizza crust and was told 11”. I was told I would need to wait 1 hour 30 minutes and I agreed. I ordered the Gluten free 11 “ crust as advised for one Olive Tree and one Garlicky . When I arrived, I asked the person with the pizzas to confirm the gluten free pizzas. She looked a bit worried and said they were not gluten free. I asked the other girl if I would have to wait another 1.5 hrs and she said they would expedite my pizzas. The owner came over and said he had two vegan pizzas for 8:30 pm and I said that is not what I ordered. He said he was too busy to remake the pizzas. He said the girl that took the order said she didn’t remember gluten free was ordered. As a Celiac , those are the first words out of my mouth when I order any food and I also inquired the size of the gluten free crust and frequently they are pre-made and sealed and I was told they are 11”. He would not remake the pizzas as he said he has to trust his staff. So he implies the customer are lying and uses it as an excuse to not make it right. It doesn’t excuse not remaking the pizzas correctly as ordered gluten free as I was told a few minutes earlier. I assured him I ordered both pizzas gluten free and my wife came in and also confirmed as she heard me place the order on the phone. I realize this pizza must be well done and popular but not to remake the pizzas and imply me a liar and refusing to remake them is unprofessional. I find his behavior arrogant, rude and unprofessional and just because he went to Italy to learn how to make pizza doesn’t make him a good owner and manager. Hopefully, he won’t blow off this review but learn from it. Always make it right for your customers! And never insult your customers! It also suggest he doesn’t care about his customers because he is too busy. He walks away and just repeats he has to trust his employees. Poor excuse for not making the pizzas as ordered! Employees can make mistakes and as a Coeliac I will also double check as I did when I came to pick up the pizzas. I would advise Coeliacs to not try these pizzas as you can’t trust them to make them to your order. Peace be with you! Dietary restrictions You cannot trust this place to make your gluten free as ordered and they won’t remake it if they made it wrong and just say I have to trust my staff. Very Poor attitude from an owner and a bit arrogant! Customers don’t appear to be important and must be lying if they get an order wrong."
