"Upon our arrival, we noticed several staff members gathered behind and around the reception desk. However, as soon as we entered, they all promptly moved into the kitchen, leaving us unattended at the desk while they continued chatting. As for the food, there was not enough gravy and it was quite dry. The dish lacked vegetables and had an excess amount of potato, with roasties that were too large and slightly undercooked in the middle. On a positive note, the dessert, specifically the sticky toffee pudding, was superb. Unfortunately, there were numerous flies present in the dining room and bar area. The staff appeared to be lacking in customer service skills, as most of the service was devoid of eye contact or any pleasantries. We ordered a bottle of still and a bottle of sparkling water, but were only provided with a jug of tap water without any explanation (we later discovered that bottled still water was not available). Good customer service can either make or break a business, and it seems that the Fauconberg's staff could benefit from some improvement in this area."

Had a wonderful meal here. Cooking is exceptional and very reasonable prices. Excellent service. Had the homemade steak and ale pie that was just lovely. The gravy had such depth. Excellent

The food was excellent, but the service was horrendous. The staff was extremely rude and made everyone feel uncomfortable. I won't be returning anytime soon, which is a shame because this pub has always been great. I am very disappointed.

Saturday lunch. Easy to park outside. Proper beer, well kept. Good and varied pub food, plus specials such as seafood platter, fish of the day, lamb 's liver. Well cooked, the star was the chocolate brownie though, best I 've ever tasted from our brownie expert. Service charming and very efficient. A great place in this handsome village. View menu

We spent most of Sunday in the Fauconberg lovely friendly pub great beer and we had a fantastic Sunday roast, the beef was top class and we thought for the quality of food, beer and wine it was very well priced bar staff were great and allowed us to move tables so we could eat and drink wine so we could watch Manchester United beat Brighton on penalties while we ate

Years ago, I wrote up my favourite bar in Venice. Schoolboy error. It was another five years before I managed to secure a table again,. So I am reluctant to share this secret with you, but it is only fair on the great team that run it to keep it busy. It is a virtuous circle, of benefit to all. It is not, however, a place for woke townies. Go see, sample and adopt; this is a very special place.

We had two excellent meals here during our stay nearby. The quality of the food was excellent with a great choice on the menu. The dining room was well appointed and comfortable. The service was warm and friendly and we were made to feel very welcome. We were delighted to learn that local chef, Mark Westaby, who served us meals on wheels during our Yorkshire holiday stay in 2020 was now in the kitchen here. We should have guessed as his food is always top quality. Highly recommended. View menu

We had a wonderful lunch with friends at this restaurant. The atmosphere was friendly and welcoming, and all the tables were full by the time our food arrived. We ordered sea bass, chicken, lamb chops, and a delicious steak and ale pie, which were all excellent and very tasty. The prices were reasonable as well. The service was a bit slow, but it was understandable as the pub was packed. Overall, we had a great experience and will definitely be returning. The Timothy Taylor beer was also well-maintained.

A super Sunday lunch. Roast beef cooked to perfection. Pork loin with lots of crunchy crackling. And the biggest whale this side of Whitby ok it was battered Haddock, with chips and mushy peas. Brilliant. The olde world restaurant was a fine back drop to our three generational family lunch which tasted even better because Granddad paid. Only niggle were the very hard carrots left by each of the five roast eating guests. No biggy and we mentioned it when asked. I do have a theory though as to why the carrots were on the very crunchy side and that is I am sure they are given to local horses as there are, I am told, a number of staff members who ride. Lucky horses. In summary... sounds like the...

"We arrived here for a 2 night stay for a wedding (Fri sat night). PROS: Lynsey the manageress she 100% makes it so fabulous. Lovely, welcoming, looked after us brilliantly. Due to some staff shortages, she was doing what seemed like 10 jobs at once! We ate on one of the nights food was delicious! Great service tasty food. Breakfast was also spot on set us up brilliantly for the day ahead on the Saturday! The Willow room which we stayed in was fab ideal size, lovely cosy too! The whole 2 night stay was extremely reasonably priced the place itself has a great feel about it like a big cosy house! CONS: If you like total darkness, take an eye mask for sleeping as the rooms can get really bright from the early hours. Also, depending on the room, it’s on quite a busy road so can be quite nosy it would be worth having earplugs if you like a quiet surrounding. Due to staffing, the bar doesn’t stay open that late, so be mindful of this, they will however put drinks in your room if you can’t make it back in time for the bar closing. Taxis there are no local taxis, so arranging transport to the wedding we were attending was a nightmare which we didn’t account for! Luckily after 6 different phone calls, we managed to get sorted. The only gripe I had was the confusion over the bill if you decide to charge things to your room, the bills aren’t itemised so it’s difficult to keep track of what has been charged. There was some confusion on checkout over what we should shouldn’t have been charged for, so definitely choose to pay for any extras outright to avoid any confusion or uncertainty before check out. Other than that, it was one of the nicest, most personal stays we’ve had out in a long long time. This was mainly down to the Manageress Lynsey who is fabulous at her job really does make it feel like home makes you feel super welcomed relaxed. Thank you lynsey for really making a stay a one to remember."
