The French House - Menu

Everything at the restaurant was great, but unfortunately our reservation made through Open Table did not go through for some reason.

Reunion with friends on Sunday lovely ambiance here with friendly and relaxed service. Good menu and wine choice. Would recommend. I believe it can be very busy but on this Sunday lunch time it was buzzy but not crazy busy.

Lovely restaurant, unusually quiet for a Friday night tho in ED soooo many restaurants. Nice staff, service not in your face but attentive. Nice wine, nice food, reasonably priced. Would highly recommend for a date or get together with friends. View menu

A Sunday lunch and the place was fairly quiet. We opted for the tartes flambees which were tasty but went cold quickly. Other diners were eating what appeared to be more substantial hearty dishes that certainly looked tasty. The staff could be a bit more friendly and not make serving customers sometimes seem like a chore.

Service was not great no attention to detail i.e. Ordered a glass of kir and red wine with fondue but red wine was delivered when we were still drinking kir and not started on fondue... asked for 2 takeaway boxes, 1 brought then asked for 2nd, waitress rolled her eyes! Fondue was not good, extremely thick when delivered to table.

We chose the restaurant as we know Alsace food and wine well. We had expected to be able to have the sit down set dinner menu, but this is a mistake on the Open Table website. Never mind, we had the charcuterie platter followed by tartes flambées. Mine was a bit bland. Best bit was the very dark kir (with an extra large glug of cassis). View menu

Good place to eat in Dulwich! The previous reviews were accurate and the French House did not disappoint, the location was authentic, food was very good (there was a minor issue that the staff responded to well and solved immediately to our satisfaction the sign of good customer service is how things are dealt with on such occasions! We will RETURN!

I really enjoy this quirky restaurant. Despite its unassuming exterior, it has a certain charm once you step inside. The staff were fantastic - a bit moody, cool, yet also friendly and fun with a hint of cheekiness which added to the experience. Unfortunately, my dining companion and I were the only patrons there. It was a Sunday evening, so perhaps it's not a popular night for them. I imagine Friday and Saturday nights might be busier. Nonetheless, the food was excellent. I particularly enjoyed the duck pate and the fun fondue. The potatoes and salad were also tasty. Overall, the simple yet delicious French cuisine impressed me and I look forward to returning during a busier time.

The greeting at the place was very friendly and the waiter was pleasantly serving us and checking on us constantly. The music was a mix of English, French, Spanish and other languages which kept the whole atmosphere friendly and spread the feeling of belonging. As for the food, well this was the best part in the whole visit. The cheese plate they offer has a fair selection of cheeses with assortments. The duck confit was cooked to perfection, well seasoned and very tender and juicy. The goat cheese had a wonderful sweet dressing that simply takes you to a different world with the warm goat cheese crumbling over the bed of greens.
