After seeing the bad reviews for the chippy in Newton Stewart we searched online and found this gem. Cooked fresh to order and a lovely location to boot. The harbour is a great place to eat the food afterwards with views of the nature reserve and benches. Service: Take out Meal type: Dinner

Most soggy Fish and Chips we have ever had. We used this place last year whilst on holiday and it was good, so came back this year, ABSOLUTELY AWFUL, never again. I note the average stars for this chippy is 4.4. I must have gone on a bad day. Bought chips and curry sauce, and donner meat chips. I think they mixed up the donner meat and chips. The donner meat was over cooked and the chips were part cooked. The only edible thing was the curry sauce. Service was good, but the time taken to cook food was long. Day 2 of our family holiday has to be F&C. This place is a hidden gem. There are not enough reviews about this place. Absolutely fantastic fish and chips. We regularly make the trip to The frying Scotsman, kebabs are superb, never once had a complaint from the kids and they manage to find fault in everything!! The staff are always friendly and welcoming when we go in, happy to do all the wee extras too! In fact, I'm having a chippy tea tonight, and guess where we are heading?? A brilliant place to get a chippy tea. Loads of choice, including deep fried battered pizza (Pizza Crunch), King Ribs, lovely curry sauce, great chips that are never greasy, generous cheesy chips and all the usual stuff. They also do milkshakes and frozen desserts, and service comes with a smile. Ring up and order in advance or wander round Wigtown for 20 minutes while they cook it fresh for you. Prices are fair too but they only take cash, so remember and bring some, or use the cash machine nearby, or get cash back at the Co op.
