"We stayed at the George Washington while on a visit to meet family. As guests there was a provided breakfast which was absolutely delicious and truly almost more than one could eat. We also had the occasion to have dinner there with a large number of family members and the kitchen turned out wonderful meals (Branson chops, rump steak, fish and chips, etc. all done perfectly. The pub also has a very nice selection of beers and was able to accommodate all mixed drink orders as well. On top of all those attributes the prices were very reasonable for the quality and quantity of food. They use all locally sourced foodstuffs and it shows."

How did i like the George Washington? Not sure, when we got there it was closed. Village pub. They don't open til 4 nowadays. Sign of the bad times we are now living in.

stoped off for a drink after a walk up warton crag, found the reception by the landlord to be lukewarm at best, pub was deserted which is always a bad sign, landlady had a rubbish attitude, put a slight downer on what was a great day, but hey there are always other watering holes!

We stayed for two nights when visiting family. Room was comfortable and spotlessly clean. We did not have dinner, the breakfasts were faultless with high quality ingredients freshly cooked. The outside of the property could be improved but overall we felt the stay was good value for money and we would stay again.

Lovely pub in an equally lovely location...however, be sure to ask for receipts for contactless payments. I paid £7.65 for a pint and half and 2 packets of crisps. Next time I went in for just drinks and got charged £7.60, without my glasses I wasn't sure what I had been charged as no receipt was given. Suspecting this was the case I checked my card transactions when I got back to our motorhome and I had been overcharged. I know its only a couple of quid but that's not the point. I'm hoping it was a simple mistake and not just taking advantage of a tourist.
