"Lovely pub in an equally lovely location...however, be sure to ask for receipts for contactless payments. I paid £7.65 for a pint and half and 2 packets of crisps. Next time I went in for just drinks and got charged £7.60, without my glasses I wasn't sure what I had been charged as no receipt was given. Suspecting this was the case I checked my card transactions when I got back to our motorhome and I had been overcharged. I know its only a couple of quid but that's not the point. I'm hoping it was a simple mistake and not just taking advantage of a tourist."

Friendly locals and good ale. Centre of village with large car park. Open for food Wed to Sunday finished 6.00 Sunday. Good beer garden View menu

This is definitely a 5-star experience. The service and food quality are excellent and the staff is friendly. It's a traditional pub atmosphere!

How did i like the George Washington? Not sure, when we got there it was closed. Village pub. They don't open til 4 nowadays. Sign of the bad times we are now living in.

The George Washington is a gem of a pub and is without a doubt the best village pub we’ve ever had the pleasure to know. The ale is superb, the food is exceptional and the welcome and service from James, Janet, Kim and Daisy is second to none. View menu

We reserved a B&B room to rest during a long journey and found it to be welcoming and cozy. The breakfast was outstanding, and we also enjoyed a delicious evening meal at the bar, which was not only reasonably priced but also very tasty. The beer was also quite good!

stoped off for a drink after a walk up warton crag, found the reception by the landlord to be lukewarm at best, pub was deserted which is always a bad sign, landlady had a rubbish attitude, put a slight downer on what was a great day, but hey there are always other watering holes!
