"I am so happy that I decided to go to the Shield for a Sunday dinner. It was my husbands 60th birthday and I had surprised him with family coming to visit and a meal out. First of all, I cannot thank Stacey enough for how helpful and accommodating she was when I asked about eating there.....nothing was too much trouble for her which I am really appreciative of. As for the food....absolutely AMAZING! Hot, loads of it and tasted fantastic. The desserts.... OMG! Beautifully presented and so moreish! We will definitely be back and I couldn’t be happier with everything. THANK YOU."

we visited the golden Shield-Wilde on a canal holiday at the nearby canal grande union. this is a nice pub with friendly staff. we could order a meal to be delivered (kovidende reasons) that was met and delicious. inside was clean and well decorated and above all a beautiful pint! View menu

We stopped by for a drink after a fantastic shopping trip. The service was outstanding. Michelle, the very pleasant bartender working tonight, was polite, friendly, and chatty. The waiter, known as 'Grandad', delivered our drinks to our table without spilling a drop. We will definitely be returning.

A cold restaurant and on mentioning this the landlady became quite aggressive in her approach. No menu except on blackboards. I didn't mention regarding the quality of the food burnt garlic bread and also burnt lasagne and the chips were overly greasy as they had been cooked several times. A very dark and intimidating car park and could ideally do with a sensor light to help. The website had said cosy and I think they meant cold and unfriendly (cold atmosphere). I think that the landlady need some people skills and customer service training.
