"This small pub is charming and the staff are very welcoming and friendly. The food, however, was average. My partner enjoyed the Chicken liver pate, which was bought in but tasty. I had the prawn cocktail, which was presented in a small glass tumbler. Although it was nice, the presentation was a bit odd. The peri peri chicken lacked flavor, but when I mentioned this to our server, he brought me more sauce, which unfortunately didn't improve the taste. It was more like roast chicken. My partner ordered the Wild Boar Ragu, which was stodgy and tasted like Heinz Spaghetti. The overcooked spaghetti and sauce resembled Heinz spaghetti sauce. We didn't have dessert, so can't comment on that. Overall, we were underwhelmed and a bit disappointed, especially since we had heard good reviews about the place. We probably wouldn't go back as our experience was not as expected. It's possible that we just didn't choose the right dishes."

Good value and lovely food. Would definitely recommend a visit. Nice pub but limited parking so could be busy at certain times.

I like this pub a lot. No frills just a great boozer. The food is good and inexpensive, and the staff and owners are really friendly. Paula and Steve work really hard to make you feel welcome. Kids have a large area in the garden to play and dogs are welcome too. A real asset to the community.

under new management and my quality, which differs for one. visited a series of times since the new renters arrived this month and always a nice warm welcome, the pub is so clean and fresh. a really friendly place to go for a drink, the beer from the pumphouse brewery next door is now simply excellent. the care and attention given to the pub itself, the customer and the beer is a full breath of fresh air. 10/10. Enjoyed an excellent Sunday lunch when visiting the area. Both the prawn cocktail and the smoked salmon and prawn starters were fresh and tasty. The main courses were superb. We had the roast beef and the turkey and gammon both were excellent with large portions of meat, roast potatoes, yorkshire puddings and gravy with mixed vegetables to share with 6 different options. Typical Sunday lunch choices but very well cooked and presented. Good value for money too. We will be back.

stay with friends in the village at this weekend and had such a fantastic time in the green man. it is so clear to see how much the new renters take care of the experience of the customer. eating is homemade, with very generous portions. there is a good selection of drinks with good delicious beer and great wine, especially the local toppesfield bacchus. the pub is clean and well kept. the absolute jewel must be the beautiful beer garden, which has a breathtaking view of the landscape and a large area for children, walking around and playing. huge congratulations to the new management team so beautiful to see friendly faces behind the bar!

"We came here on a last minute hunt to find a Sunday roast with family without much expectations. However when entering its a lovely set up and we were greeted by Lee and Alison who looked after us for the meal who just to begin were absolutely brilliant, they really care about the customers and make this place extra special. Now for the food you can get a 2 or 3 course meal so everybody made various selections but all had starters. Most went for the Aarancina which isn't your usual starter with a Sunday roast but for here it packs alot of flavour and is a great way to start the meal. They have a great selection of alcoholic beverages I went for a simple beer. For the main roasts we had a variety of meats I wanted the pork but sadly they had no crackling which was half the reason for ordering but if I am being honest after eating the meal it wasn't missed out the meat was tasty full of flavour but the sides were the key. The roast potatoes were of a top level usually when you eat out they are never as good as eating at home, the Yorkshire were huge and tasty, gravy brilliant with plenty to go around and lots of veg and cauliflower cheese on the side. Honestly this was excellent a really good roast probably the best I have ever ate in a resteraunt. Some of the others had the lamb shank which was huge and had great feedback but the beef was great and so was everything else. So yes check it out eat in and eat some great food in a nice setting with absolutely brilliant service you won't be disappointed."
