"the first time to visit here, never saw it before, but found it on google maps. the interieur is beautiful with a classic and eclectic mix of retro furniture, very cozy and relaxing atmosphere with a lot of beautiful natural light from the large windows. the personal was so friendly and accommodating so that our drink was just as we liked them. the menu was quite limited in terms of hearty snacks/lunch elements, but what it seems to be very high quality. there was a good selection of hot drinks and some delicious fresh cakes and bakers on the display. we tried two different cakes and both tasted amazing. I don't know how we didn't know anything about this place before, but we'll definitely return!"

Lovely little bistro which sells ice cream. Ordered at the counter, and asked to take a seat and it would be brought to us. What fabulous service just for 3 ice creams. Lovely location overlooking the river. Ice cream was delicious too! View menu

it is a really nice room and beautifully furnished to give a warm and welcoming atmosphere. the choice of cake is really good and the coffee is also beautiful. the location on the water makes it a great place to stop when they explore the kai and the castle.

What a wonderful place that I have only just discovered in my own town! I will definitely visit again. Fantastic laid back atmosphere, brilliant selection of drinks and a warm, welcoming reception from the host make this place an absolute must for a night out

Really lovely feel to the place, excellent cake and coffee. They used to have a kitchen but the owner told us it had closed down due to Covid, so it's more of a café than a bistro these days, but still and excellent place to go for a bite to eat and cup of coffee. View menu

Our first visit to this restaurant was with our family of eight. Located in the heart of old Newark, parking was a bit challenging but well worth it. The dining room is fairly small, with unique and effective decor. The owner was very friendly, the food and wine were excellent, and we were even treated to a wonderful performance by a rat pack style singer. The staff were friendly and efficient, making the evening a delight. Be sure to visit when Matt, the vocalist, is performing his weekly gig.

We had pre-booked a 2-course evening meal at this restaurant, which was restricted but varied, including a starter and main course. My wife and I were able to enjoy a leisurely meal together. The food was absolutely perfect and we were accompanied by a fine glass of wine. The service was excellent, and the hosts, Andy and Jenni, have set high standards that are followed by the staff. It was a pleasure to compliment the chef. We have now sorted out my wife's birthday meal for September at this bistro, which is a must for any special occasion!

"I’ve just realised I’ve been visiting The Beck for over 20 years now for both drinks and meals with friends and family and I’ve never written a review! The Beck for me is home from home and I’ve lost count of how many times I’ve visited. They say a business is only as good as it’s staff, and maybe this is why The Beck has lasted so long with a reputation for a relaxed atmosphere good food and good service. The staff here are friendly, caring and professional, I’ve never been anywhere where I felt so at home as The Beck. Edward, Julie, Theresa, Kieran and not forgetting Trish in the kitchen make the place what it is! In 20 years I’ve never had a bad meal here, the food is excellent, and today did not disappoint. I was treating my parents and wife to a belated Mother’s Day and Dad’s birthday meal out, I had the lamb roast which was sublime and my dad had the blade of beef which in his words was “melt in your mouth” good! My Wife had a chilli and my Mum had the flat bread, which were also very nice and portions are plentiful. My daughter has Dairy and Soya allergies and wanted sausages and mash however the mash had butter in it so they made it with chips instead, she also cleared her plate! If you want to go somewhere with a nice warm friendly atmosphere and excellent food at very reasonable prices then The Beck is definitely worth a visit."
