"Had 2 nights in this lovely country pub with my partner and our dog Ted. We stayed in room 1, The room was large, warm, and comfortable, it had all you would need, the shower was powerful and lovely and hot. We ate in the pub both nights, and breakfast was included with the room, dinner and breakfast was all freshly cooked, and very tasty, the menu, is your usual country pub fair, but very well done.. both our evening meals were perfectly cooked. I had sirloin on the first night and turkey and ham pie on the second, my partner had steak pie, then scampi. We had cooked breakfast both days, with tea and toast.. cereals where also available and fresh orange juice was on the table. All was fresh and cooked to order and lovely. The owner gerry is very welcoming, and all the staff are friendly and can't do enough for you.. the pub itself is absolutely wonderfull a proper country pub I would say, exposed beans rouring fire and thatch roof. We would highly recommend 5/5 we had an absolutely wonderful stay.."

We make a pit stop for lunch here on our way to Cornwall every year. We found it originally by mistake.. I booked the wrong Hatchett Inn and ended up here! So delighted we did as the food is fantastic! Real English pub food and the most beautiful setting! Picture perfect… please go out of your way to visit

Called on a Sunday evening and the place was empty. Very strange. This is a large pub and was told the lunchtime trade was hectic. but quiet that night. Ordered Steak and Ale pie, chips, veg etc. I must say it was very tasty and a great portion. Overall good value for money and a nice pint of real ale!!...Nothing not to enjoy !

This pub is fantastic. It is situated in a beautiful rural setting with gorgeous gardens and outdoor seating areas. Inside, there are charming bars with impressive log fires. They serve Timothy Taylor ales and offer a great menu with delicious food, along with excellent service. The best part is that they are fully dog friendly. This pub truly stands out as one of the best.

Waited for nearly an hour for our food having been advised we may have to wait for 25 minutes, no timing update given, which was delivered by a pleasant waitress, however, the food was awful it appeared to all be from frozen stock, even with cling film attached to one of the vegetable bowls, the vegetables were grey green yuck.. Totally tasteless, and overpriced. What a disappointment. Won't bother with this pub again. Real shame as lovely setting.

I visited the restaurant twice last week. During my first visit, I had garlic mushrooms, whitebait, steak pie, and Cumberland sausage, all of which were cooked perfectly and the service was excellent. However, during my second visit, we had to wait almost an hour and a half for our food, which was eventually served by the bar manager with apologies. Unfortunately, the calves liver and bacon were dry and the fish pie was overcooked. The soup was served in a cracked bowl. The front of house staff were embarrassed and made amends through the bill, although it would have been more appropriate for the kitchen staff to apologize. I hope this was just a one-time occurrence, as I have enjoyed dining...

Six of us got together for a reunion lunch at the Hatchet Inn in Lower Chute on a sunny day at the end of August. We had all been there before and decided to return since it was conveniently located for all of us coming from different areas. We sat in the pub's lovely garden, with most of us enjoying the sun while one preferred the shade. A helpful staff member noticed this and took it upon himself to provide a parasol for the person in the shade, going above and beyond to make sure we were all comfortable. Despite a bit of a wait for our food, we were not bothered as the weather was pleasant and the delicious dishes were well worth it. The portions were generous and reasonably priced. The p...

After deciding that we would try The Hatchet Inn with friends we have all decided we won’t be going back. The starters were mediocre, the Pâté had no flavouring to it and there was far too much for the amount of toast you get (which was also burnt) and the garlic bread was disappointing. The steak was dreadful, asked for it to be medium-rare and it came out as blue and wasn’t eaten (Aldi have better quality cuts than what this was) the ham, egg and chips was of poor quality and the beef wasn’t very good either. Although the steak was taken off the bill it was still very expensive and I would not recommend it to anybody. There weren’t any check backs done after the food was served either so n...

If you’re looking for the quintessential English country pub in peaceful, idyllic surroundings, then look no further. It has all the attributes you’d expect to see on a picture postcard the thatched roof, the beams in the ceiling and the lovely flowers that surround the buildings in beautifully maintained gardens. The staff are all extremely welcoming, friendly and attentive, the accommodation rooms are spotless and extremely comfortable. If you’re going there for a meal, make sure you’re really hungry beforehand the food is of peerless quality and the portions are as generous as they are filling. If you’re staying there, the same applies for the breakfast in the mornings. There’s a great se...

"We stayed here ten years ago and thought it was wonderful and worth every penny. We were so excited to return, but really Disapointed. The grounds are lovely and we were pleased with our room. The children loved the outdoor space and the pool What really let us down was the food and service. There was no luxury here. The family dining choices were poor. The children's meal was bad one had fish gougons and sweet potato fries which were very salty. The other two had pizza, the small was served as half a pizza, the large was a conventional round shape. Both were shop bought bases (cardboard) with grated Cheddar on the top. Something I would not feed them at home let alone expect in a supposedly high end dining. My husband's steak was chewy. My main, whole plaice with creamed potatoes, the potato was served in a ceramic dish and it was cold. It was taken away and then took ten minutes to return by which point I had eaten the fish. The food was incredibly expensive considering how poor the offerings were. The next day we ate a very late lunch in Bath so we would not have to eat at the hotel. The breakfast buffet area had some nice items but was really understocked and allowed to run to empty. The staff functioned but not at a steady rate, we found the service slow and the staff disinterested. Such a contrast to our previous visit. The person in charge we found sullen and felt as if our presence was an inconvenience. When we walked through to the dining areas we would hop out of the staff'so way for fear of being bulldozed. When we left the receptionist was polite but did not ask if we enjoyed our stay. A week later I had an email to complete a survey and nobody got in touch despite the same feedback as given here. Very dispointing. Lovely room and surroundings but poor food and poor attitude from staff. Last year we stayed in a hotel that cost 65% less than Wooley Grange and had a much better experience."

"We had a tremendously good lunch here today-the food was quite delicious, the staff were very friendly and helpful-I’d say it’s probably one of the best lunches I’ve had in quite some time….so to give you a clue we both had the pork-this sounded really lovely and we were not disappointed-pork belly, tenderloin,a faggot and a ham hock croquet with mashed potato and roasted cauliflower with a delicious jus and a slice of pickled apple( which I ate immediately with a piece of pork and when the waiter came to ask how our lunch was I asked if he could possibly get me another piece-which he did For dessert we shared the passion fruit crème brûlée which came with a passion fruit sorbet and some chocolate soil…..the focaccia we had at the start of the meal was superb and the coffee was also excellent -we do enjoy both cooking and eating-one of life’s pleasures and it’s abundantly clear the chef absolutely loves food too-a great display of cooking books from the greats sort of got me thinking it would be a good lunch…….also worth noting the drinks menu-some lovely wines, soft drinks and cocktails both alcoholic and non alcoholic. I finished off with a mocha which was hot chocolatey but not too sweet. Bradford on Avon is most definitely worth a visit and I’d say you would be foolish to miss out on a great experience if you didn’t also pop in to the bunch of grapes for some sustenance while there… Thanks for lunch and as Arnie says “ we’ll be back”….."
