"We dine at this restaurant every week because it is so delicious. Today, I had the fish pie and my partner had the steak burger. The burger was juicy and flavorful, with a fresh bun. We also ordered some onion rings and extra chips. The crispy batter on the onion rings was amazing and they practically melted in our mouths. My partner was very happy with his burger. As for the fish pie, it was absolutely incredible! It was filled with chunks of fish and prawns in a creamy sauce, topped with mashed potatoes and possibly cheese. Although it may not look like much, it was very filling. We enjoyed our meal with a glass of Shiraz and Guinness, and were also given a jug of water. For dessert, I opted for the egg custard with panettone, which was the best pudding I've ever had. The creamy custard with sugared, chewy panettone cubes on top was heavenly. After dinner, we relaxed in the busy bar, which had a variety of patrons dressed in different attire. The staff was friendly and attentive, always making sure our glasses were full. The only downside was that some patrons stood in the way at the bar, but they were polite and accommodating. Overall, we love this place and will definitely be back. Thank you!"

We visited on a very quiet Thursday lunchtime. The Steak Pie and service were excellent. Good value, good food, good service.

Not a special occasion but just visited for Sunday Lunch but made special by the staff and quality of the food. Prawn cocktail followed by Sunday Roast Beef with a nice bottle of wine. Couldn’t ask for more. As usual staff are great.

Really nice pub. Cosy with a good atmosphere. The food is great (the apple and cinnamon crumble was fab), the service excellent and the mulled wine delicious! We enjoyed it so much we ate here two nights in a row. And we will definitely be back. View menu

Sunday Lunch off the Game Menu. The Quail starter was outstanding followed by the Venison which was delicious. Our local village pub where the quality of the food continues to improve with every event, Lobster and Fizz, Fruit du Mer, Tapas, Game weekend. Can’t wait for the Christmas Fare.

We visit almost every Friday for dinner and it’s always a treat! Tonight’s dinner was fantastic, the pheasant terrine starter was outstanding. The sea bass nearly tempted me away from the game specials but seriously, we’ve tried most of the dishes on the everyday menu and you can’t go wrong.

Another amazing meal at a local village pub whose food would grace any good restaurant. Starter: perfectly cooked Mallard with beetroot fennel salad, pine nuts feta. Main: roast Venison haunch {A haunch not a couple of slices} with honey roast carrots, cabbage, hand cut chips and game jus. Absolutely delicious and very generous. As ever, excellent beer kept to the highest standards, great wine by the glass and lovely staff. Already planning the next visit. View menu

Went for the Tapas Night 29th September. We were very excited about it, the menu looked great when we sat down. Prices were a little more expensive than competitors but you'd expect that in a local pub. However when the food arrived, the portions were so tiny, I felt absolutely robbed! I personally paid £17.50 for my 3 choices: 2 thin slices of foccacia and a small balsamic dip £5.25) 3 tiny empendadas and a slice of lemon £7.50 absolute rip off) A bowl of roasted peppers that was quite a generous portion actually but ironically the cheapest thing on the menu at £4.75) My partner had the tiniest serving of 3 meatballs £7.95) and 3 chicken wings £7.95) In summary if I want tapas, I'm going to...

We went for the Tapas night and what can I say other than it was absolutely amazing. We were seated on arrival and drinks order was taken promptly. We ordered 8 tapas dishes and they came at varying times which was explained they would do on ordering and it was perfect! The variety and choices offered was superb. Meat, fish and vegetarian dishes came and the taste was exceptional. This was washed down with Aperol Spritz for me and fine ales for my partner. 5 different members of staff served us and everyone single one was courteous, professional and made us feel really special. Their attention to detail was amazing as they noticed your empty glass and always offered you another drink. Creme...

"ok… I have deliberated whether to write this as don’t like to be negative but I think this place can take it so here goes… My husband booked a meal as a Christmas pressie this as I have always wanted to go to a michelin star restaurant and this is quite local to us. We arrived at The Barn which is quite basic in appearance as the downstairs looks like several saunas due to the amount of wood on show. Upstairs was nice and attractive. The staff are efficient but the whole set up is bit ‘cold’ and unfriendly. The staff were not particularly engaged; maybe this is how they were trained to be? The food consisted of amuse bouche which tbh didn’t really taste of much and this was a theme for the whole menu unfortunately. The homemade bread was delicious but the other offerings were tasteless and needed seasoning. -trout mousse in a lemon broth, including pips, was tasteless and the mussel mousse on pikelet didn’t taste of mussels. anyhow on to the main event-we ordered partridge -chewy and tasteless, the cured sea bream not seasoned sufficiently. The meals looked delicious-style over taste? Then the mains-my deer was tender and delicious but the sauces didn’t taste of much-I had to check the menu to see what they were meant to be. My husband ordered the steak-now at £62 this should have been SOME steak- what a shame it wasn’t -it was just a sirloin, bit chewy, not that great. Deffo not worth £62 of taste! It wasn’t caramelised on the outside and abit sinewy. The bone marrow bearnaise sauce was tasty though. Now I like cooking, I like food , I cook fresh meals every night but I’m not a chef. My first experience of food at this level… I will stick to local restaurants WITHOUT michelin stars at a fraction of the price -tbh I prefer my own home cooked meals! Is this a case of the emperors new clothes? Do people just think it’s good because they are told by someone else it’s fantastic? I’m disappointed in the experience at The Barn. Bit of a wash out and I will be asking for a meal at Bistro Verite in Birkdale next Christmas probs at a fraction of the price!"
