"The Hoop and Grapes is a lovely pub from 1593 which survived the great fire of London. My boyfriend and I went on a Saturday night and wasn’t sure if they’d let us in with our dog as it was a little busy (although not packed) and there was live music on but the staff were lovely, friendly and polite, happy to have our doggy who was no trouble, and they even brought water out for him which was much appreciated. We shared a bottle of wine and had one more drink after which was a reasonable price, especially for the area, and the atmosphere and decor was lovely. Highly recommend if you’re in the area!"

This pub offers a fantastic selection of beers, has friendly staff, and serves delicious food. Set in a historic building, it has a wonderful atmosphere and is conveniently located near Aldgate and Aldgate East tube stations.

Everything was great! A touch pricey but I don't live in London so I'm not used to their prices. Other than that everything was wonderful. The brisket, shin, rib and red wine pie was to die for. I usually have sensory issues with mash but this was so yummy I devoured it none the less. I can't wait to get back to Aldgate to go there again. I highly recommend checking it out for yourself. 9/10

"The decor of the restaurant is really lovely. We were greeted as soon as we arrived. We placed our orders quite briskly. We received complimentary bread and olives, which was a nice touch. Our Bruchetta starter arrived a whole hour after we arrived, which was disappointing and far too long to wait for a cold and easy starter. The menu did not specify that the prawns on one of the bruschettas were raw! The waiter said service was slow because they were busy with Uber Eats and Deliveroo. Clearly not prioritising paying customers, who pay a 12.5% service charge, unlike online customers. Eventually, our main courses arrived. My pasta was only just cooked, so close to being undercooked and hard. They ran out of ricotta and replaced it with the tiniest amount of cheese so I asked for some more. Since ricotta was supposed to be the main ingredient of the dish. The tuna steak was lovely, and the veal could have done with a thinner breadcrumb batter. The sides, chips and zucchini, were £4.50 and very small portions for such a cheap side. So that was slightly disappointing. Overall, the pinot grigio white wine was very drinkable, and they brought tap water when we asked for it. And the whole staff were very polite. It was a shame the service was so slow, and the food could have been better for the price that it was. We also felt it was overpriced for the location it was, zone 2 London and not in the West End."
