"We spent two nights here in mid-December. For lunch, we enjoyed a delicious sandwich served with salad and chips, which made for a satisfying meal. Later, for dinner, my wife loved the leek and potato soup, while I enjoyed a tasty meatloaf. Lastly, we indulged in their Sunday roast lunch. I had the tender pink sirloin roast, while my wife opted for the roast chicken, asking for just a few slices of breast meat instead of a full portion. The dishes were beautifully presented. Richard and Lindsey are welcoming and friendly hosts, and the atmosphere is very warm."

Our booking was lost, despite us ringing to confirm on the day. The service was poor, the food disappointing... would not recommend.

Loved it in ere, so much so we felt part of the community meeting locals from goring. Lovely friendly atmosphere, will definitely be back, cant wait.

The restaurant now has new owners since our last visit. It took a while to receive our fish and chips, but the chicken burger was disappointing as it was just a piece of chicken. The red wine selection was not good and difficult to drink.

Been going for many many years and the current owners have had the best food since we started going. We wish the current owners well in the coming years as they are changing soon. Therefore come before of August to experience the best fish...and chips in the world. View menu

Called in here today on a tour of the village pubs. I found this to be an excellent pub. It's a proper local pub. A small bar with comfortable chairs in both bars and good atmosphere. Beer quality was excellent together with the prices and...service. Would wholeheartedly recommend a visit here.

this cozy little pub has recently opened again for eating, after changing hands, so we have booked for a Sunday roast that was wonderful, the starter of the goat cheese was brilliant and the mousse dessert equally good, the staff is very jovial and the local...customers are good fun to chat, I would highly recommend there is an attempt

We visited here for a drink after a hot day in Oxford. We had read good reviews so thought we would try it for ourselves. Such a lovely atmosphere in a proper authentic pub, with so much history. The owner and the locals were so...friendly and welcoming. It was our last day in the lovely village of Goring so we look forward to travelling here again. Would recommend View menu

The chips were frozen and tasted like they were from a supermarket, with an overwhelming amount of sea salt. This was something we had never experienced in a restaurant before. The tartare sauce seemed store-bought, and the fish, although acceptable, fell short of our expectations. I would recommend trying Smiths in Wapping or Ongar for the best fish and chips of all time. Overall, our experience at John Barleycorn was very disappointing.

We made a great decision to call into the John Barleycorn , whilst walking back to the very lovely Friars Ford in Manor Lane over the August Bank Holiday weekend It was just three days after the delightful new landlord and lady had taken over...the pub and what a super pub it is The friendly, enthusiastic couple have made an excellent job of painting and revamping it already, have great plans to improve it further we really wish them well Nice cosy atmosphere, and well positioned in the town We highly recommend a tipple or two during a visit to Goring !
