"--- I’ve realized that my previous contribution was more of a review, so here it is: Last night, six of us gathered at The Tipper to celebrate family birthdays and sample the Christmas menu. My advice: book a table now, or you might miss out on some fantastic dishes! The seafood chowder was exquisite, and the terrine and salmon were standout choices. We also tried the slow-cooked beef, which was a hit with everyone! It was tender, flavorful, and melted in the mouth—cooked to absolute perfection with a fantastic balance of taste and texture. The salmon was reportedly beautiful, and the star dessert seemed to be the Eton mess; however, I was particularly fond of the Christmas bread and butter pudding. I could have eaten it multiple times! I must mention the wine list—it was well thought out and reasonably priced. The service was brilliant—fast and personable without being overbearing. Overall, I can't recommend The Tipper enough! Fantastic food, excellent service, and a lovely atmosphere. What more could you ask for?"

A very friendly family run affair with only 9 or 10 tables. Alison our waitress couldn’t be more attentive. One of our party had a few food intolerances which the Chef accommodated easily.

That was one of the best meals I’ve had! My friend and I both ordered the seafood pot with hand-cut chips, and it was amazing. The staff was very efficient and friendly. I will definitely be back!

Had a beautiful meal for 4 here tonight, fish cakes, seafood chowder, warm salad starters. Pork belly, pot of shell fish and steaks were delicious. Even managed sweets too. Excellent food and excellent value.

If u love seafood I really recommend u pop in, even if you're not a seafood fan there's tons of other yummy sounding dishes on offer! The staff were lovely, really attentive and even went as far rustling up something that wasn't on the menu for my daughter! We can't wait for our next visit!!! X

This was my 4th attempt at finding somewhere to have lunch with my mum on Saturday so I was delighted that that we managed to get a table in this lovely little bistro. It was wonderful. Our food was delicious and mum was so pleased that she could get a half portion of the fish and chips. Good service, pleasant surroundings (and nice clean toilets) I'll definitely be visiting again. Had a fantastic meal tonight. Everything was so fresh and tasty. I had the monkfish with crispy squid and mussels which was fantastic. My other half had a starter of ham haugh with a poached egg in a potato crepe followed by his usual of haddock, chips and pea purée which was one if not the best ever. My son had the homemade chicken soup with parmesan followed by a home made burger to die for. The service was fantastic with very attentive service as usual.

The best meal I've ever had! I tried the cream of watercress and pesto soup, and it was fantastic. I also had venison served on a bed of mushrooms and kale, accompanied by a hot pot. For dessert, I enjoyed a lemon tart—so many delicious flavors! The staff was beautiful and attentive, creating a relaxed and friendly atmosphere. My dining companion had lentil soup, sea bass with Serrano ham, and sticky toffee pudding. We will definitely be coming back. Thank you!

"Fabulous evening had at McCaskie Butchers Cafe ‘pop up’ steak night. Phenomenal service from the outset and throughout evening. Menu was fantastic with a varied selection of tempting dishes. Mark the cafe manager suggested a lovely red wine from the extensive selection and it was a perfect accompaniment to what was to come. Decided on shin of beef and spring rolls between us as starters and we were not disappointed; perfect start to a dining treat. Both came with accompanying sauces which were quite simply stunning and beautifully presented. As it was a ‘pop up steak night’….at a butchers shop we both ended up choosing steaks; we went for fillets but were so tempted by the other steak cuts and protein options such as lamb, chicken stuffed with haggis and haggis (vegetarian option too). We chose to ‘pimp up’ our meal with Mac and cheese, onion rings and some surf upgrades with some of the biggest prawns I’ve seen in Scotland (unfortunately scallops were sold out) which was a ‘greedy’ but wise choice. All food was cooked to perfection and compliments to staff for standard of cooking and presentation. We had a lovely evening in great surroundings with great service from Mark and Laura. Everyone we heard were very complimentary of the food and service. Congratulations to staff and owners for a fantastic culinary experience!! Will no doubt be back for their monthly ‘pop up’ events and to their daily cafe and butcher business."
