"Great experience! Lovely relaxed B B, great service, awesome food and small bar with lovely atmosphere. Rooms: Loads of character with everything you need. Very comfortable, great base for the south side of the island and great place to relax. Walkability: Great 10 minute walk through the woods to get to the beach, which never gets busy. Good views of the west of Scotland, great coast views and the waterfall was pretty majestic. Food drinks: Food is EXCELLENT! Great breakfast, loved the Arran black pudding, and the pastries are a very nice touch. Booking required for evening food, well worth it. Good selection for dietary requirements. Recommend the burger, sausage mash and the halloumi. Vast selection Whisky from the island at the bar, so make sure to sample a few during your stay. Noteworthy details: Lovely old building full of character, charm and history. Location and scenery you will struggle to beat."

Gorgeous setting. Beach about 10 mins away by walk and this part of the island is so peaceful. The garden lawns are pretty and booking the garden suite gets you a table and chairs through the French doors. Very comfortable and enjoyed our stay. Most happy to recommend. Stopped in at the Lagg Bar, adjoining the hotel, on a quiet Sunday for a light refreshment and a bite to eat. It is mainly just a bar but also offered home made soup and sausage rolls which were amazing (please don’t change the sausage roll recipe). Will definitely make it a regular stop off and would recommend if you’re about the south end of Arran.

Really enjoyed our stay in the Lagg in May. The hosts are lovely, great chat, and they were very accommodating with our late arrival (we were the band for a wedding at Dougarie Boathouse up the road . The double room was comfortable, and the full Scottish breakfast was excellent. There’s plenty parking, and the location is peaceful, with a large garden and wooded area. Meeting the owners’ dog Mia was a bonus! Many thanks from us all at The Brogues Ceilidh Band :

The proprietors, Jules Lee, are among the most hospitable welcoming people I’ve ever encountered. Lee is passionate about his gastronomy, especially slow cooking and apart from a varied menu offers a daily special at dinner. At lunch there is a lovely homemade soup and his own make tasty sausage roll with perfect puff pastry. A cooked breakfast is included, with a vegetarian option as well cereals and gluten free porridge. Noteworthy details: This hotel is “dog friendly” and safety conscious. The beer garden and sun lounge offer a wonderful haven of peace for those escaping the hurly burly of modern life and popular tourist resorts. It’s in an ideal location for hill walking and cycling.
