"Could not fault the hotel, with glorious food expertly prepared, spacious bedrooms, handsome decor (if a little tired and weathered in books and corners) and utterly charming staff consummate professionals. Would return without hesitation and intend to do so. 4 stars. in comparison, spa day a deflated disappointment. Sauna not operational had we known we would have booked for a time when it was working. Consequently steam room packed cheek by jowl with the overflow. Lockers in the ladies changing room requiring complete overhaul as most lock mechanisms broken, and doors are a head injury hazard. Heavy limescale deposits coating metal features, befitting a veneer of dingy sport locker room, not luxury spa. Toilets and other facilities festooned with out of order signs. Gowns and robes thin, drab and tired. Tepid watered down coffee served in budget self serve flasks, not a cappuccino to be seen. Disinterested staff lacking engagement, though waitress Megan was an exception. One redeeming event was an exceptional massage by masseuse, David. Tips: lighting above the pool loungers should be dimmed/recessed, the glare is not conducive to relaxation. An option of slippers as opposed to gaudy plastic flip flops would be welcomed. Water to drink sorely needed in aqua area, water everywhere yet not a drop to drink. Not a feather of luxury to be seen in the spa, everything tired, worn and dilapidated, which is exactly how I felt on departure. 1 star."

Great setting, helpful staff, espically in the Spa. Lovely food, table service was good but not amazing, I'd recommend going to breakfast earlier than later 9/10 View menu

A wonderful day spent with very special people although it was two years in the waiting. Food was excellent as was the facilities. Maybe make this a yearly event.

I paid £92 for a facial, but I've had much better facials for half the price at other places. The therapist was friendly, but the rest of the staff seemed indifferent and only cared about themselves. I will not be returning.

We had a wonderful day at the spa, and it was so much better than our previous visit. It seems they've changed the staff, and they were warm and friendly, making sure nothing was too much trouble. Unfortunately, the gardens have been neglected and need a lot of maintenance. View menu

I used a voucher to book a spa day and paid an additional over £250 for massages and lunch. The night before, I received a missed call at 8:30 PM but no message was left. I tried returning the call twice but got no response. After driving nearly three hours, I was informed upon arrival that there was no water and no facilities available. Our massages had been canceled without any notification. I'm extremely disappointed. I understand that unexpected situations can arise, but the lack of communication and the complete absence of empathy from the staff were quite unfortunate.

Spa day visit. Nice breakfast on arrival. The hot drinks were budget with filter coffee in a flask barista drinks were available later at high cost). Very clean in public areas but a little dilapidated in wet areas near the sauna and steam room these rooms were very good). Management must have been aware as a maintenance man was scrubbing mildew for dear life probably after a complaint). This made it inaccessible for a while. Treatments was like attending a production line with hurried questionnaire admin rendering the session too short overall £50 for 20 minutes pampering in a 25 minute appointment). Lunch was good, high quality menu. Overall good.

"Our excitement to see this café open allowed us an opportunity for some needed refreshment . Oh a cup of tea and a slice of cake or a little available small snack was what we needed . We were told by an employee sit down we come to you , so we did .. Another staff member standing behind the counter looked over and frumpy look called the cook who had the same frumpy look and went back to cooking , We : waited , waited , waited , waited and saw the frumpy counter woman still in the same spot , we waited and waited then left , maybe she was glued to the floor . We looked left and saw a pub named the Pheasant, oh drink and food , renewed enthusiasm and excitement we entered to staff who couldn 't do enough, so professional and warrants praise and a revisit , after a while we left and waited outside for our taxi , looking over we saw the cafe closed , ahhhhh it all came together and understanding that we was an inconvenience to the café as they was closing in half an hour after our visit , How long would it have taken to make a cup of tea for two? , us drink it , then how long would it have taken them to wash up the cups ? , they still would have twenty minutes for the woman to be unglued, our first impressions were of a cafe with many seats and a welcoming atmosphere, the woman employee sitting at the front table working was professional and welcoming the tables were clean and we kept our excitement as we waited , our excitement and enthusiasm faded, we left happily for the woman glued to the floor , we are appreciating the effort of the lady at the table who was seriously let down by the others , thank you for your efforts , apart from her professional customer service skills our Eureka moment to see the café open wasn 't to last , sorry to the staff member at the table I 'm very sure the service we had wouldn 't have been what you would have given , this review seems strong in tone but it 's our experience in here that day.. . I am not now able to show enthusiasm for another visit , I would have loved having that day and opportunity to empty my wallet a little and a little bit more on what would have been another visit , sorry no Eureka moment taken away that day."
