"Took my girlfriend here whilst we were away for her birthday celebrations and the service was absolutely incredible! So attentive to us (was quiet but just got the feel the service would have been the same regardless) The place was gorgeous, low ceiling country pub with a good selection on the menu. We decided on an antipasti share board to start which was amazing, such good quality meats and products and brilliant value for money! Then onto the mains, my girlfriend had a wild mushroom tagliatelle which she enjoyed very much and I had a butterflied chicken breast coated in onion chutney, mozzarella and parma ham with corn, broccoli and saute potatoes. Then onto dessert in which we went for the white chocolate creme brulee which was perfectly caramelised over the top and a bakewell tart which was so moist and soft. Also have to mention the fact that my girlfriend doesn't drink and has a Virgin Mary most of the time and the barman made the offer of celery salt for it, which you don't find in many places which really compliments and elevates the flavour. All in all nothing could be faulted with the service or food at The Old Bell and Crown. 10/10 would visit again and recommend."

After a long walk with a friend, we enjoyed a Sunday roast for lunch. The staff was very friendly and welcoming, creating a wonderful atmosphere. The warmth from the fires was an added bonus. The food was delicious, with generous portions that seem to be a rarity nowadays. Overall, it was a fantastic lunch and a lovely visit to their friendly pub. We will definitely be back soon!

The staff at this pub are incredibly friendly, and the food was amazing. The menu has fantastic options that showcase their specialties, and there’s an excellent selection of drinks. The service was also wonderful—no complaints whatsoever. I would definitely recommend this place; we visited several times and were never disappointed. A big thank you to the staff and the locals for creating such a welcoming atmosphere. The place looks fantastic, especially during this season.

This is a beautiful county pub. With low wood beam ceilings. It has 2 wood burning fires one of which is a open fireplace next to the bar. It has a very cosy feel to it and the staff were excellent. The menu all sounded pretty appetising aswell. The specials board was above the second fireplace in the dining space. The food was fantastic. My partner and I had the calamari and a cheesy garlic bread for starters what was delicious. Then for main course we had the sirloin steak and thier homemade burger. The size of these dishes was superb and cooked to perfection. I would strongly recommend going here for food and I can't wait to go back again.

"Excellent place to break up a long journey. Staff welcoming and helpful. The rooms we were given was generous and comfortable, we both slept very well. Dinner was ok. My other half didn 't fancy anything on the menu so went for a safe bet of scampi and chips which were exactly as they should be. I had rump steak cooked rare and it was perfect. I chose the pepper sauce which arrived cold so had to be sent back to be heated and the chips, truffle ones recommended by our waitress, arrived plain and also had to be re-ordered. These two items seemed to take ages to rectify by which time my steak and mushroom were cold and my husband had eaten his. To add to the disappointment I thought the truffle chips although delightfully crisp, hot and molten inside I found most unpleasant. That I didn 't like them is purely subjective and absolutely no reflection on the cooking. We skipped puds. The service was lovely and the whole place has a great ambience. Breakfast was filling and again service was brilliant. A good place to stay... Rooms: Very comfortable bed. Plenty of room. Interlined curtains and chilled water. The bathroom could have done with a thorough clean, specially around the taps and the toilet needed a jolly good scrub, if it 's not practical to use a heavy weight cleaner a large bottle of malt vinegar for 12 hours and then a good clean would certainly improve the cleanliness. Safety: All thought through although there are lots of small steps you 'd expect in a building this age so those not so good on their pins need to take extra care. All are clearly marked 'mind the step(s) ' and are marked with boldish white lines on the carpet. All the corridors are well lit."
