"As a pub this place has never been great but it has always had a warm, welcoming feel, a few locals propping up the bar, some tourists drinking out front in the summer, a log fire in the winter. When we heard that it had been taken over (by the old landlord 's sons) we were really keen to check it out. Sadly all the charm has gone, whitewashed walls and strip lights mean it feels more like the kind of place you 'd pop in to buy a bucket and spade than settle in to enjoy a pint, let alone dinner. We didn 't eat so can 't comment of the quality of the pizza but the drinks were fine, we had a black IPA which wasn 't up to much and a Pimms, which they had no fruit for. The service was prompt and friendly but it just feels like such a wasted opportunity when they have such a prime location. This could be a great destination pub but sadly feels like a showroom for a bunch of branded taproom tat. I would say a swing and a miss but to be honest it doesn 't feel like they 've even bothered picking up the bat. Shame."

Was good allowed our 3 dogs. Only criticism we stayed 3 nights, I felt for price should have been cleaned at least once. Continental breakfast very limited choice. Rooms: 4 View menu

The building looked amazing, like staying on an actual boat. The room was big and everything was perfect. Comfy bed, nice decor and luxury towels. Easy check in and very professional and kind service

Great atmosphere with welcoming staff. While I personally didn't enjoy their house-made beer and ale, that's just a matter of personal preference. Overall, I rate the service 4 out of 5 and the location 4 out of 5. View menu

Very friendly and helpful staff; the best beer tasted so far on the Isle of Wight. I especially enjoyed the Witbier and the Black IPA. Food drinks: The beers are brewed onsite, although this is soon to move to Nunwell Service: 5 Location: 4

Just back from a lovely visit to the pub. We went for the Hot Box Pizza tbf. Staff where great welcoming and friendly. Drinks reasonably priced and served well. Tonight they did a pizza buffet. All you can eat for £12. 4 different styled pizzas topped constantly up on a buffet bar. Great quality artisan woodfired pizza. Thanks all. Recommendation would be to book for a Wednesday Buffet ran 6pm to 8pm. Service: 5
