"We revisited The Plough after dining there in December 2017 and had another delicious meal. After reading various reviews, it's hard to predict what your own experience will be like, but we would definitely recommend giving it a try. We ordered the Hunters Chicken and another chicken dish with seasonal vegetables and a creamy mushroom sauce, both of which were cooked perfectly and full of flavor. We also enjoyed the Timothy Taylor's beer, which seems to be exclusive to this pub as no other pub further east in the country sells it. Overall, a satisfying dining experience."

The staff were not very attentive, but the food was excellent. We visited during the early week and were recommended the lovely area and friendly pub.

Great to eat at a proper, traditional pub. Very friendly staff, beautiful home cooked food, excellent ales, served quickly in lovely atmospheric surroundings. Highly recommended.

A nice village pub doing very nice food. We ate at the Plough by chance and we’re pleased to say it was a good choice. The food was excellent, piping hot and good size portions. We would have no hesitation in recommending.

We called in Friday lunch time and had two excellent meals. One was off the specials menu, Cornish sole which was delicious. So went back on Saturday for lunch again. Staff very friendly and attentive. We were here for a long weekend but would highly recommend The Plough.

Party of 19 celebrating an 80th birthday. Seated in the room to the rear, small but functional. Service was good and friendly. Three course meal was excellent and not a single complaint from any of our diners. Great to experience a family friendly pub offering great service and great food. Will be back for more.

We went here for lunch, didn't book but just dropped in and got a table just in front of the roaring log fire. Staff were really pleasant, food arrived promptly and there was plenty of it especially the gammon egg and chips and for my meal the veg were cooked just right. The food was delicious, couldn't fault anything and for what we had the price was reasonable.

Nice place with lots of character but we found that the service was poor and the food was worse. Had gammon and everything on my plate was straight out of the freezer except the fried egg. The chips were a massive dissapoinment, I could have done better at home in 20 minutes. Service died off to zero for half an hour as we finished our meal. The waitress was having a chat at the bar. Would we go back? No! They are charging premium prices but serving budget food.

I was greeted by a fantastic lady named Lisa who provided exceptional service throughout my entire experience. The food was delicious, and the staff and other customers created a pleasant atmosphere. I highly recommend this place to anyone looking for a genuine pub experience. The prices were reasonable, and they also have a nice beer garden for warm summer days. I had a great time and can't wait to go back to try their Sunday dinners on my next visit. 5 Stars all around!

"Having been a regular customer for over a decade to The Bell Inn, I was left very underwhelmed this time. Room was lovely and clean as usual, Tom on reception was fab. We chose to dine in the restaurant as normal and booked for 730pm so we had a nice long evening to enjoy eating and drinking. The menu is now very limited compared to previous years, we chose to have 4 starters to share and some rose wine with bread to start. Slight delay on bread, which came crammed on a small plate, which we had to ask for side plates after waiting for the waitress to reappear…the oil and balsamic was awful, there was so much oil chucked in the ramekin we had to ask for another, to pour some off to try and get to the vinegar. Food came out, and was put on table, again had to ask for side plates as we were sharing and still had bread on the other ones. No drinks check. Had to wait at bar to order more. Food was mediocre at best, we both have very good appetites especially after the harbour walk and some wine! but both ended up just picking at it. Ended up going to room with our wine very early, the only other table in the restaurant that was occupied had some sort of problem ordering due to “fryers being turned off” and got sandwiches and chips instead! Slept well as usual. Went for a quick dog walk before breakfast and narrowly avoided being hit by the chef arriving at 845am in the car park. Arrived on time for breakfast at 9am, lovely, lovely waitress served us, ordered full English and pot of tea, partner the same with coffee. Took a sip of the tea and it was barely lukewarm… spoke to waitress who was very apologetic and bought me a fresh one, turns out the rest of the room all had the same problem with tea and coffee as the urn hadn’t been turned on in time see chef comment food came out and was delicious and hot, and top quality as usual, we cleared our plates! Room was spotlessly clean, and the Tyneham hand wash/cream is so good! Overall disappointing as I know how good this place can be, and the first time I’ve ever encountered any problems. As stated before it was not busy in the slightest compared to previous years, so no excuse really. I will return as The Bell holds dear memories for me, I hope next year it will have ironed out these problems and be back to full glory!"
