"Cafe/Tea Room. Despite having visited a few times before, I was surprised to have a negative experience this time. The restaurant was quite busy, and instead of a server taking our order, we had to go up to the counter. My main complaint was with the person cleaning the tables. They piled everything onto another table that also needed clearing, which seemed like a strange choice. The cleaning process seemed rushed, and they ended up putting dirty plates and cups back onto a table they had just wiped down. They then walked away, leaving the table empty but not properly cleaned. It seems like they could use some help with basic hygiene practices. Our tea was lukewarm, and the cake was just okay. Overall, the standard of service and cleanliness seemed to have declined compared to our past visits."

Beautiful lunch, food, service tea room lovely. Would highly recommend. The quiche was best I've had in a long time.

Oh no what has happened to the Pot Place cafe? Lemon Meringue Pie normally amazing was truly dreadful! Hopefully they were just having an off day.

We have been here on a number of occasions for tea and cake. The cakes look and taste great. The staff are friendly and the service is quick. The prices are reasonable as are the price of plants in the adjoining garden centre.

Best scone I have ever tasted! (And I’ve made and eaten a good many! crisp on the outside, fluffy and cheesy on the inside, a perfect size. Toastie ham was excellent quality too! Well worth a deviation off the M6 between Penrith and Carlisle!

We stopped here for lunch on our way South. The location is outside the village on the former railway station. The tea room is comfortable with a wide selection of hot food and bakery items. Staff are very friendly and efficient and the place was busy. Highly recommended.

The staff were friendly and helpful, cafe is pleasant and clean. Unfortunately the food on offer is extremely poor for vegetarians. We had gone for lunch but we just got a scone each. The scones and coffee were lovely. The cakes looked good, but it was uncomfortably hot in the cafe so we left.

What a delightful discovery! The coffee and tea were delicious, and the fruit scones were very tasty. The staff were friendly and pleasant. However, it would be helpful to have better signage in place (as we couldn't see any) to indicate which section of the café is dog-friendly. We were all settled in when we were informed that we needed to move because we were not in the correct section.

We popped into this garden centre as a break for a drink on route to out holiday. Although it 's slightly off 'the beaten track ' it 's definitely worth finding. The cafe was in the old school room (complete with a desk I remember from my Infants School) and was relatively full, which is always a good indicator. We had coffee and an excellent Cheese Scone. We then had a look around the rest of the Garden Centre which is located around a courtyard area where we found a birthday card- completely inplanned. Definitely recommended

We chose this as a venue to meet a friend on the way back from our holiday as its close to the motorway. Nice looking little cafe and friendly service except for one person. I asked if there were any vegan options and her reply was ‘lettuce’ and then was begrudgingly told I could have a jacket potato with salad. In the end I had a potato with beans no butter the only thing on the menu but it came with a big dollop of coleslaw which I had to scrape off the plate. I’d like to think this wasn’t intentional mmm! The young woman on the till was very sweet and the woman who brought out our food was lovely. Just the one very rude member of staff who let them down. I won’t return.
