Very busy with a wonderful ambience, staff couldn't do enough to help and the food is pretty much the best of any Indian restaurant we've been to in this country. 5 star!!

I was a frequent visitor to this restaurant, but I moved away from the area a few years ago. On a recent visit to Basingstoke to see family, I decided to get a takeout and went back to the Red Rose. I was pleasantly surprised when I walked in and was greeted by name. The service and food were just as good as I remembered. Fantastic!

We ordered for chicken makhni, Cheese naan, paratha, raita, onion bhaji papadom. Delivery came on time to our premises. Quantity was good. Worst food ever i had last night. Chicken makhni, cheese naan and paratha is too sweet. We were unable to have the food. It's fully waste of money £30.40). And sure, never ever think to order food from The Red Rose Tandoori Restaurant. Very bad taste. Pathetic.... View menu

Ive jusy had a delivery,10 minuites later its in the bin...I ordered a mixed starter and got a samosa, The curry was the most bland tastless rubbish ive ever had. it was no better than chicken flashed in the pan and the cheapest tastless sauce put over the top from poundland, You should be ashamed to sell food of that standard. BE AWARE YOU ARE WASTING YOUR MONEY !!! Ive had hundreds of indian food and that was the worst experience ive ever had. How are you in business is beyond me... ive just re-ordered again from somewhere else !!! DISGUSTING !! You should be ashamed !!

I reserved a table at this restaurant after my parents, who had been here a few years ago, had praised it. Unfortunately, our experience was extremely disappointing. The service was the worst I have ever experienced at an Indian restaurant, and the curry was incredibly bland. They seemed to prioritize delivery drivers and walk-ins over actual diners, as we watched many people being served before us. Our food took over an hour and fifteen minutes to arrive, and by then, we were already fed up. This was by far the most flavorless and watery curry I have ever tasted. Needless to say, we will not be returning.

"Our first visit. We cannot praise thank The Wellie highly enough. What a find! Peacefully rural on a quiet road to the south of Baughurst. A classic, pretty country pub, now converted to an excellent restaurant, with three rooms. What strikes you first is how immaculate The Wellie is, inside and out. The large garden is a delight. Masses of dahlias and all manner of bushes and plants. Birds, birds and more birds. Do check out the vegetable garden beyond the rear car park. You then walk inside to the warmest of relaxed welcomes from the owners, Simon and Jason, and manager, Sheila, and their lovely young helpers. Nothing is too much trouble. The first thing you’ll spot is the array of fruit, veg salad for sale by the pub bar – the Wellie Deli. Along with home made jams, chutneys, quiches, etc. I then spotted the two hand pumps! Longdog Golden Poacher Basingstoke Pride. The seating inside is for diners every session is a sell out! But I was very happy to sup several excellent pints of well kept draught Basingstoke Pride in the garden – until I discovered their Negronis! Truly the best this side of Kwant (Piccadilly). We’d opted for the room in the pub: the Apartment. Two rooms on the first floor, knocked through. Enormous comfy bed, large rainfall shower, sofa, mini bar – two TVs! Free milk homemade shortbread. One of the discoveries we made here is the fabulous tea they serve from Prince Sons. As you can tell by now, we were very happy with our first stay at The Wellie… and then we went down for dinner! A truly exceptional menu from Jason’s kitchen, which changes each evening. Highlights were the scallops wrapped in pancetta, the pollack, the lamb pot pie, the twice baked cheese souffle, the NY cheesecake, the rhubarb ice cream, the treacle tart... All so fresh, tasty, and mainly from their garden. What we loved most was it was relaxed but fine dining without the tiny portions. The Full English breakfast the next morning was equally tasty. All in all, we did not want to go home! Thank you Simon, Jason Sheila. We will be back, soon."
