"The service started off well but when the main courses came it all went downhill. My chicken pie was nice but my partners burger was tiny and came on a brown seeded bun which he couldn’t eat. There were hardly any chips to go with it. Our plates were taken away and we weren’t offered desserts or coffees. We thought he would just automatically return with the dessert menus but twenty minutes passed and it was like we had been forgotten about. I spotted the waiter just leaning at the bar chatting with what looked like was a friend. I got up and had to ask at the bar for someone to bring us the menus. When we finally got round to ordering my partner said his ice cream had to be completely plain no, flakes, sprinkles etc as he has a nut allergy. The ice cream arrived with a wafer in and when the waitress put it down she said ‘I don’t know if the wafer has nuts in it or not.’ Well.... something you kind of need to know! How dangerous! By this point we had lost the will to live so he just left it. Won’t ever go back and wouldn’t recommend anyone went, especially if you have a nut allergy!"

Food lovely, service very good considering how busy the place was. Very noisy as had table in the bar, difficulty hearing conversation at times. It’s alway quieter in the restaurant area. Would specify restaurant area next time

Really enjoyed the night, only issue was that the booking I made through the app had not been received by the restaurant. They managed to accommodate us but this was a little disappointing as I had booked it as it was a special occasion

Went for a fairly early stopoff tea. Had different mains, with drinks, for about pretty standard price would rather pay that for something decent. Weren't wanting to stay long food was served promptly, without affecting the quality. Have been a few times before will be back

First of all .. it's the Riccarton Inn and NOT the Ricarton Inn. Leaving that small point aside..They were helpful and flexible in that they provided coffee first thing in the morning at very reasonable cost whilst they obviously would normally be preparing for lunch service.Lunch itself was freshly cooked and tasty. Only tiny quibble would be that the fish and chips were put on top of the mushy peas and slice of lemon and initially obscured them .. we'd happily return

"I am glad I did not read the reviews before visiting, since my experience is at odds to many of them. Firstly I have to say that the all of food was really good. Nachos to start were plentiful, great tasting salsa, loads of guacamole, sour cream and jalapeños. We particularly liked the fact they had a double layer of cheese through the tortilla chips. Only complaint was there was too much! Mains were a bacon and Brie burger, pancake stack and Philly cheese steak. Burger was big, juicy and well filled with stuff. Bacon could have been crispier but all was tasty. Excellent and hot fries. Pancakes were plentiful so some came home. The streaky bacon really would have benefitted from being cooked for longer. It felt a bit soggy but tasted ok. I always think streaky bacon is best dry snd crispy so the fat has been reduced. Lastly was the Philly cheese steak. No gristle in ours. Lots of meat, tasty sauce, melted onions etc. It was lush. No room for puds. We took a chance on coffee and it went far better than expected. Nicely made strong coffee that was well up to the mark. Huge picture windows look out across a sunny Edinburgh Park, but nice still. If you know Edinburgh, it’s in a bit of a strange area, but loads of parking and the greenery and tram-watching makes up for that. Not overly clear who the clients for an American sports bar in this area are, but there was s steady stream of customers whilst we were there. It’s a cavernous space with a large bar and tables seemingly spread around ‘the edge’. Sports on multiple screens and loud music mean it is a bit noisy, but that is the point I guess. Staffing and management of them was a bit of an issue. Waiters were all lovely when they came, (and effusively apologetic when they forgot to bring the bill), but given the place wasn’t overly busy, it bordered on the inattentive. So perhaps a bit of work on team management and maintaining the food quality we enjoyed on Saturday afternoon and it could be a great place."
