"First thing to mention is that this restaurant is in a very narrow residential street and there is absolutely no parking. How on earth this restaurant was given planning permission to operate I have no idea and it must drive local residents mad. We, a party of 4, arrived at 7.10pm for 7.30pm reservation . We were told we could not be seated as a larger party had to be seated first however when we were shown to our table it was a table that had been free and set when we arrived and we could have sat down. I mention this only because we were offered a drink at the bar however the bar is tiny and has no seating. My advice to other diners don 't arrive early! It was pouring with rain outside, noone offers to take your coats so these had to be put over the back of the chairs we were seating on. Our orders were taken. Two of us ordered lamb. Appreciating that lamb is often served 'pink ' my friend prefers her meat cooked through. We told the server our preference to be told that the chef will not cook it anymore than he sees fit as it 's a 'signature dish '. The starters of soup, goats cheese and mushrooms were fine. Our lamb arrived. The ends were pink however in the main it was raw. The steak was cooked as ordered(not a signature dish? and pie was acceptable. Two desserts were ordered and were acceptable. Coffee on offer was limited just black filter coffee (coffee machine broken . For 4 people bill was £200. We felt rushed throughout. Not sure what this place is trying to be. When we were leaving there were 4 elderly gents drinking pints of beer sitting at a table?? Customers ranged from smartly dressed to baseball caps and jogging pants. Food was good if you can eat raw lamb. It feels like 'Emperor 's new clothes ' syndrome is at play here. We will not return and would not recommend. Parking: There is no parking at all. The narrow street is full of residents vehicles. You just have to drive around to find a space in nearby side streets."

"The interior of the restaurant was charming and traditional, featuring warm lighting from candles and classic pub tables and seating. The atmosphere was peaceful, free from loud music or rowdy patrons. We were promptly seated by a polite and attentive waiter who handed us the menu. The menu boasted some intriguing starters and main dishes—far superior to typical pub fare. It was compact, which I always see as a good sign, but with a vegetarian in our group, a picky 12-year-old, and a 6'2" teenager with a big appetite, we all had a tough time deciding among the excellent options. I opted for the confit duck in cherry sauce, which was absolutely delightful. My son went for a homemade curry served with chips and rice, which he devoured and found very filling. My wife chose a broccoli soup that she described as delicious. Despite being full from our entrees, we couldn't resist trying some desserts. The dessert selection was impressive, featuring classic choices like bread and butter pudding, treacle tart with custard, and a cheesecake that was impressively sized—about the size of a house brick! We all enjoyed some drinks, with a selection of nice ales and IPAs on tap. The total bill for our family of four came to just under £100, which felt quite reasonable. The staff were attentive, friendly, and polite, and the owner took the time to chat with us after our meal. We had a lovely experience and left feeling very satisfied. This place is truly a hidden gem; if you're in the area, it’s definitely worth a visit! Vegetarian options: There were several tasty vegetarian choices available. Parking: There were plenty of parking spaces just across from the pub. Kid-friendliness: Our 12-year-old and 14-year-old felt welcome, and there were kid-friendly menu options as well."
