"we have just visited the riverside as it is cheap between us and our related. that was our first visit, so had no idea what to expect. on the first sight the bar is a little spat, but after we have ordered, we went to the winter garden with a view of the river, which was very pleasant, even in the february. the lunch menu was eaten with some standards like fish and chips, but many less common options such as seabass on a bed of corn beef with a fried egg and with a pea pee (which I can recommend) the eating took one because to come, but it was worth waiting. the portions were generous and the quality good. we all had one thing, a few drinks and a coffee and two of our party had a whisper. the bill was 20 pfunds per head."

First visit, warm welcome on arrival and shown straight to table, good choice on menu. We all chose something different and all meals were well presented and tasted great. Great value, we will definitely visit again.

Called on the off chance that we could get a meal on a Saturday evening. Good parking but a small car park. Good food, able to accommodate specific dietary requirements. Well presented and hot. Friendly atmosphere, Wheelchair accessible and helpful staff

the pub was taken over by new management and as native we were pleasantly surprised! it is a work in progress, but the decor looks ten times better and the atmosphere was fantastic on Friday night. we had curries and pizzas both delicious. large selection of drinks. we look forward to a visit. Just a quick review as we didn't actually stay for a drink as they currently had an issue with the kitchen. However, the bossman was very helpful in advising us on another venue to eat and get a warm drink. used the facilities whilst there,...and they were spotless. lovely decor all over. very pleasent. will return when next in the area.

only really say that the pub and hotel page is under new management. they make a complete renovation. the bar area have made a mix of traditional and industrial, completely new bar made of recycled wood, all new flooring and decor. they have a good choice of drinks, but still decide whether they come. they wait for a new kitchen equipment and become traditional pub-tarife and some Indian dishes, as far as I know. definitiw a great improvement on the old place and until now look good. I have marked it as a cut, just because this is the case now, but I want to be very clear, the new management makes a great work and that will be great. my room, although very simple in the decoration, was large, clean and the bed very comfortable. I had a great night. the view from the window over the river on the fields beyond was breathtaking and eating well and plentiful. the manager took the time to talk to me and ask how the dinge were, I have no doubt that the next time I stay there will be further improvements.

"We've been here a couple of times before and it's been great, however our latest visit was not a great experience. Portions were small, presentation wasn't anything special, looked like meals I could of in nocked up myself as a quick tea at home, nothing special at all, certainly didn't look like a restaurant dining experience. Also, never come across a restaurant that stipulates on the menu if you want steak they need 48 hours notice! And even if they do, they should tell people when they book in as we had 2 of our party very disappointed on the night. The whole dining experience was also ruined by a group of loud, drunk locals sitting in the dining area and talking and swearing at the top of their voices so we couldn't even hear ourselves having a conversation. If people have paid for a dining experience no matter how bad that was, they should not have to put up with a table full of loud, swearing locals who were just there for the drink, keep the two things separate! Really dark and dingy in the restaurant, we struggled to read the menu due to how badly lit it was. The waitress started the evening by telling us what wasn't available off the menu, which in itself seemed odd at the beginning of the weekend to of already run out of so much. Needless to say this one bad experience overshadows previous good ones, it looks like the place has gone down hill, we won't be back! Must say though this is by no means a reflection of the staff they were lovely, it's on the owners!"

"Had a look through some of the lesser positive feedbacks and have to chuckle. Went there for lunch today. It's often very busy and you can't always get a table. The reason a place is busy is because it's good. No one queues for rubbish. Managed to get a table straightaway 11.48) . Pleasantly greeted and pointed to the table. How many places actually take your order nowadays. So refreshing. Order taken and a few minutes later our drinks arrived. No reading a menuboard under pressure. No stacking food on trays like a juggling act, sliding along a rail. No waiting for your drink while your dinner is slowly going cold only to find the person in front has ordered three frappecappychismolatteamerocanos with choc sprinkles and spacedust! I ordered the ploughman's. Three decent chunks of cheese, half baguette, apple, salad, pork pie slice, Coleslaw homemade) chutney, grapes, pickled onions and celery. All excellent except celery, which is spawn of the devil in my opinion) I love a ploughman's and this is right up there with the best. I wanted to try their cake but was too full, so we took a slice home for later. Malteser cake was lovely and obviously home made one slice more than enough for two unless you need your clothes to fit you better) Didn't need an evening meal I hasten to add. Great service, home made food, very reasonably priced. What else do you want? Thoroughly enjoyed it. Very rare nowadays . Thank you."
