we really enjoyed lunch yesterday. so nice to see so much choice for ceoliacs, the gluten-free menu. great eating, great service and great ambiente. highly recommended!

yesterday evening to eat. had the lemon sole, which was new on the menu, but amazing, especially when she filled it instead of on the bone, which can be a bit a faff. overall the eating was delicious and very good priced, will definitely go back

can not recommend this place very much. we had the most amazing B-Day party yesterday thanks to gary and his team for all their efforts. I love the place also only for a drink and eating there is an additional bonus. bravo! beautiful bistro. my happy place and an amazing place for special occasions. we had a night that was never forgotten! xxx

The menu is not extensive but what they do offer is good, simple and seasonal food. To start we had the Hampshire pork croquettes with aioli, and to balance we had the vegetarian option of beetroot, crumbly goats cheese and salad, both of high quality and just the right portion size. For the main course we went with the special of the day, which was a sharing dish for two of lamb hot pot served with seasonal vegetables. Just what was needed in this cold weather!

This lovely pub is a much quieter and better option to the vast Windmill over the road. Whilst not on the common side the benches out front overlook the pond and are a suntrap in summer. Inside is cosier with some tables tucked into a few nooks for a more private dining experience. The range of ales is good and the food is also particularly nice. The burger I had came in at around £10, but was much better than those slapped together elsewhere. Rosemary on the handcut chips was also a nice touch that lifts this pub slightly above others locally.

once I lived in clapham in “Abbeville Village”. it's an opposite of london that I really loved, but for reasons of work left. at this time the rookery did not exist – I would have noticed because it is almost against the windmill pub – one of those pubs that you should know whether you have ever lived in the opposite and I am sure that the rookery clapham south side has become a firm favourite among the natives. I have only discovered what two of the top-food facilities around clapham could be: the rookery (b) and abeville kitchen (a), both halfway between clapham common and clapham south. really disappointed underprepared, paralysed and rude fellow workers. I visited the rookery this Sunday (22th October 2017) as in the winter months my engaged and I go for a roast as often as possible. on this Sunday we invited some friends with us to visit clapham and a fast Google search and the fact that we could get a table, we chose the rookery. our guests arrived first and 20 minutes early to be met by a less friendly staff who apparently did not quite his head around the fact that they were early. when we all joined, it seemed good to go, we ordered drinks and a selection of tapas style starters from the decent menu. but if the...read more

With a seriously busy bar and the feel of a converted pub, The Rookery doesn’t immediately seem like somewhere to eat. Packed to the nines until at least 9pm, there’s quite a commotion to contend with in order to get fed, but provided bumping elbows with your neighbours and talking over the hubbub is something you’re comfortable with, there’s some serious cooking to be found on the neatly condensed menu.
