"I had visited the club before but never stayed the night. The location is fairly central so good from that point of view. It's maybe difficult to describe, but it feels more homely than a normal hotel and the staff seem very nice. Our room had a nice view over the park and featured a bedroom area with 2 steps leading to a study area with a desk and tea/coffee.The room was well appointed with a modern coffee machine, slippers and dressing gowns etc. Each room had it's own TV.The bathroom was newly fitted out and featured a bath and separate shower, the latter being a nice size cubicle with copious quantities of hot water at a great pressure. Two small point were that the bathroom fan was inoperative and the bath overflow had been fitted with a horrible brown gunk which maybe housekeeping should have scraped off?The bedroom area was very nice the only complaint being a lot of dust on top of the wardrobe and also the curtains which both looked as if they hadn't been vacuumed for a year or so.Any small points would not put us off returning given the opportunity"

We were residents and invited guests to dine with us on strength of previous visits. Once again not disappointed, very good reasonably priced meal and efficient service.

Old hotel with a lot of history complete with creaky floorboards. Lots of charming features. Lovely cooked breakfast kept me going until way past lunchtime. Great location for exploring Edinburgh.

Amazing ambiance for the price. Basement room but light as windows faced the square. Excellent location. Quiet but near Princes St as well as new town, Stock bridge and bars and restaurants. Room very well furnished and comfortable. Would stay again. View menu

Stayed in this popular club using one of two four poster bedrooms. The ambience was very good, the food was good and the staff were very helpful and friendly. Would recommend and will be using again on our next visit to Edinburgh. Membership available to take advantage of extra savings and facilities.

I visited the Royal Scots Club for a Christmas lunch early December. Although the food was perfectly pleasant and eatable, it was also quite average and a bit like Christmas dinner at the in laws. Well, the food that is the company I was in made it a lovely night, but we could have spent the same amount elsewhere and had much better food.

The heritage and standard of the surroundings was fabulous however the food I found not to be on a par with the promise of the look of the place.Starter was to vinegary and the main course, the meat was chuch (dry and not easy to cut) the tatties were odd and bland and the veggies were okay but tepid. The service was swift and pleasant but overall I was unimpressed. We stayed here one night last weekend. Once we found the room (we were initially given the key to a room someone has was inhabiting or which hadn't been cleaned), we were able to settle in. The room, which had been recently redone, smelled strongly of paint. No one at the front desk offered to help with our bags--we were basically on our own. But the breakfast and the breakfast room were superb. Very nice bed and linens.

Stayed for a couple of nights with my wifeAmazingly friendly staffIt was very quite so no atmosphere in the bar/lounge, not even background musicDrinks and responsibly priced Great location, just have some good sturdy shoes Room was ok (25) EXCEPT, we were in a lower room and there were bins outside the window who someone decided to drag the bins down the steps at 6.30 in the morning NOT GOODThe room was ok and wifi coverage is goodRooms and comfortable Make sure if you want to dine there read the dress code, its strict but understandable as you are dining in a members clubAll in all this a is really nice location, and I would stay again
