The Seaview - Menu

We booked for an evening, so no waiting. The dressed crab starter was really good, and the hake was superb. My husband also enjoyed his haddock and chips. Friendly staff, and a lovely view outside

Had a takeaway, excellent haddock, chips and peas. Ate them in the car while it was raining; text book holiday experience. Batter was light and crispy, fish, white and succulent, chips light and fluffy. Excellent

This establishment gained fame through television and, I must admit, it lived up to the hype. While it may be on the pricier side, the quality is top-notch. The view is breathtaking, the staff is excellent, and the food is fantastic. View menu

We had not been here for over 5 years when the restaurant was downstairs and loved it always wanted to come back. So we have a weekend booked . The view from the window was blocked by scaffolding we thought they had chowder on the menu but we must have looked at a old menu as not available But the best was no Hadock how can a prestigious fish restaurant have no haddock. If we had not paid the booking deposit we would have walked ot we had the crab which basically is crab on a bread roll I had to settle for cod We thought it would be a Magpie experience but it wasn't

Not sure why they had such fantastic reviews Service Front of house staff brusque with clients their table etiquette poor, the two younger staff absolutely fine. Food average main of plaice along with the side of boiled potatoes far too salty. The crab as a starter priced at £12 was minuscule. Mackerel starter although two tiny strips of mackerel tasted delicious, had nice complimentary components to dish. Hake main course good. Maybe stick to fish and chips as a safer option. Decor nice inside, the balcony saved the day as it was glorious weather. Seafront setting can be the only temptation.

We visited the restaurant today and although the kitchen was closed, so they only had a limited menu, they were still very accommodating. My husband had cod and chips, my son had children's scampi and chips, and since I don't like fish, I asked if there was something else I could have (the limited menu only had fish), and they made me an adult sausage. The restaurant was very clean, including the toilets, and it was wonderful to sit outside overlooking the beach and sea. The staff were very friendly, made a fuss of our toddler, and definitely earned their tip. Overall, it was a lovely dinner in a beautiful setting. View menu

Waited in the takeaway queue for 35 minutes, and still wasn’t at the counter. Only one member of staff serving and the work rate was poor, and only one of three order points being used. When got close to the counter with still about 5 people in front of me it was announced they were waiting for chips. Surely the staff are aware of how many portions were being served, how many were being prepared and could judge this against the anticipated requirements. Needless to say, the crowd the Seaview had that was queuing well into the car park (a decent amount of business I assume) no longer existed. Potential customers gad simply gad enough. Simply down to extremely poor service.

Lovely little restaurant right on the seafront with fabulous views of the beach. We were there for lunch so joined the queue about 11.20 for a 11.30am opening. Lovely clean restaurant upstairs with a beach theme and a fab round bench seat for the five of us looking out of the window. Starters of calamari, crab and oysters, all delicious. Main courses of fish pie (to die for), seafood linguini and good old fish and chips. The fish pie was a work of art and tasted as fabulous as it looked. This is our second visit but can’t wait to return for the next lunch. You can book a table in the evenings but not at lunch time so be willing to wait a little but it sure is worth it! Reviewed this place (takeaway only 3 years ago and I was pretty scathing. The owner manager gave a lengthy reply which did nothing to encourage me to return. However, 3 years have elapsed and the place has undergone some pretty serious renovation refurbishment so, we tried again. The quality of the food has definitely not had the same makeover as the building. The fish as I said in my previous review is still poor quality compared to the product they were serving some years ago. It's grey, not the creamy, white and flaky cod I get back home in Sheffield.
