"We have visited this restaurant for lunch several times over the years while walking in the Woolacombe area. It is always enjoyable to sit outside in the sun and there is ample outdoor seating available. The restaurant offers a great selection of locally brewed beers and cider. We tried the Exmoor Gold and Bay Devon Dumpling ales, both of which were well-kept, as well as Thatcher’s Gold Cider. We both ordered the Ploughman's Lunch, which included a generous portion of ham and cheese. Despite the busy atmosphere on a sunny day, our food arrived promptly."

Awful Prawn Cocktail, negative staff. If you want a better meal along with cheerier service, go next door. The Ship is Wrecked.

We had a lovely pub meal on Saturday evening. It was busy but the service was friendly and efficient. Good selection of drinks and lovely pub food.

I visited this restaurant a few times while I was in the area. On both occasions, I found the staff to be very friendly and accommodating, and the food was fantastic. I will definitely be returning in the future. View menu

Not the best, staff couldn't give a toss, food not great. If you have walked up or gone round the cliffs to get to Mortehoe pop in for a drink, I'd give the food a miss. And deffo wouldn't get the car out to make a special journey to the ship.

After stopping in the Mortehoe car park, the pub was the first we came to. The menu looked varied, so chose a curry, grill and a vegetarian chilli. All had ample portions. As it was so nice, we drove there again for a Sunday Carvery, which was excellent. The room upstairs is a lovely area to dine. A good range of drinks, so would definitely visit again.

Drove to Mortehoe to see what was there. We saw this lovely pub and fancied a bite of lunch. I ordered a ham and mustard baguette and Mrs D chose the prawn cocktail. My baguette was delicious; lots of proper ham and plenty of mustard in a lovely fresh baguette. Mrs D's prawn cocktail was enormous and came on a bed of fresh lettuce. She couldn't manage it all so I had to help out. It was very tasty! View menu

Absolutely no complaints. We asked for a takeaway carvery which isn’t on the takeaway menu. They provided all the takeaway containers (including for the gravy! and were happy to do it. The food was excellent. Well done Ship Aground. We will be back. Incidentally The Ship Aground is one of the few places in the Mortehoe and Woolacombe area that serves food all day. Lunch and takeaways from 12 noon until 9pm although the carvery finishes at 4pm. Excellent service with a smile.

We have been to this pub several times and decided to make a reservation for Sunday lunch at 2:30 pm. Upon arriving at 2:30 pm, I was worried when another group at the bar mentioned they had booked a table but were told they could sit anywhere. When I went to the bar for another drink at 3:00 pm, I found that the carvery was closed. I inquired why and was told they had run out of vegetables and potatoes, but could make some mashed potatoes instead. It seems like amateurs are running what could be a decent establishment. I will not be returning.
