"Arrived and was given a beeper to wait for a table, no problem went shopping downstairs while we waited. Eventually got a table, order was taken quickly but then the long wait started. We were with our 4 year old who was starving. We’d ordered a kids box for him sandwich, juice, fruit etc and because the food was taking so long we eventually asked if we could have his sandwich out first because he’s only wee and starving. Waitress disappeared came back to tell us that no we couldn’t because it would mess things up in the kitchen all that tells me is it’s just chaos in there never had that request turned down ever. Was told it would still be ages because burgers take a while. Eventually let my son have a cake from the counter so he had SOMETHING in his stomach good thing, the kids box eventually came with only half a sandwich. ! why? Just one piece of bread folded over with a piece of ham and cut in half. My 1 year old eats more than that. Our burgers were so tough and overcooked it was hard and chewy to eat but we were starving. Love a side salad and coleslaw but it had been served up and left sitting so long the coleslaw had a skin on it. All round, unenjoyable and expensive."

Wouldn’t waste time coming here, cafe certainly not worth the time. Sat waited for fifteen minutes with no service after being seated and told someone would come serve us. Went and spoke to dark haired girl with glasses about the poor service after asking for the manager for her to then call us liars. Staff all looked clueless like they had no clue what they were doing. View menu

The Bridgeview Restaurant is located upstairs from the famous Spotty Bag Shop. There is no problem with disabled access as there is a lift available. You are required to wait and be allocated a table. Service was quick and friendly. There is a good range of lunches, snacks, soup and sandwich combos, cakes, and hot drinks. Prices were reasonable, and we thoroughly enjoyed our lunch. Recommended

This cafe may be small, but they definitely excel in everything they do. The Cullen Skink was good and the turkey cranberry panino was truly delightful, both served by a friendly and helpful waitress. The tea tasted just right. The view of the bay may be a bit gloomy today, but that's just the Scottish weather for you. The atmosphere was great with music playing at just the right volume. I would certainly recommend this place for a quick lunch.

The service at this restaurant was very slow, the staff lacked customer service skills, and seemed uninterested in being there. Our bill came to £25 for two toastie "meals", which we found to be ridiculous. The toasties came with a soggy salad and only about 5 crisps on the side. The coffee I ordered was also terrible. Overall, it was not worth the money. If you're looking for food while at the Spoty Bag shop, I recommend buying something from the food section downstairs instead. View menu

Shop is an Aladdin's cave and good for a rake around when in area. Only quibble was it was difficult to find a member of staff in the shoe section. Lady who I eventually found didn't seem too pleased at being taken away from the kitchenware section to help me get the shoes I was wanting to buy. Had lunch in the restaurant-girls serving were all so pleasant and cheerful. Despite being busy we were seated and quickly given our drinks while we waited for our food. The cakes looked lovely though we didn't sample them on this occasion. Food was nice. Well worth a visit if you are in the vicinity.

We went to the Spotty Bag cafe but ended up leaving because of the incompetent and rude staff. We were seated by a waitress but after waiting 10 minutes, no one came to take our order. When I asked a staff member if we needed to order at the counter, they assured us they would come to our table. However, after waiting for another 20 minutes with no service, we decided to leave. Despite watching other families be seated and served after us, we were ignored. When I inquired if the dark-haired staff member was the manager, she claimed there was no manager and denied our wait time. This lack of accountability confirmed our decision to leave. It was a disappointing experience and we would not rec...

"Sunday, 3rd September 2023 – 19:00 Meal: Wine Starters – Main – Coffee My friend and I arrived at 19:00 to a busy but not overfull restaurant without a reservation and they accommodated us upstairs. Menus were produced and we ordered a bottle of white wine and a jug of water. 0rders placed for starters and 2 servings of the Italian style fish stew on the ‘Specials Board’ at 26.99 each. Tomato and chilli with promises of loads of different fish. The toss up was between a steak or the stew (which neither of us would cook at home). The table was dirty and needed wiping – this request was placed 3x on the young waitron who eventually produced a cloth slopping water from a bucket in the corner cupped in her hands where she half heartedly wiped the table with water dripping onto my friend’s lap. Hurried mop up with tissues out of my bag. The white wine was plonked on the table – next to the cooler – unopened and no glasses. Several attempts were made to attract the waitron’s attention. Eventually another bottle was produced opened and we were advised the waitron was under age and not allowed to pour wine. Perfectly acceptable had she produced an opener and the glasses with an explanation I would have been happy to help myself – we understand and appreciate these things. The starters arrived and were delicious! The chef then came out to see us and explained that there was no lobster for the stew – we asked for extra monkfish, he then said there was no monkfish left – but could help us with other white fish and crab claws. He said he was down to the last 2 portions, and he would ensure they were hearty. We were a bit concerned and suggested perhaps we settle for the steak which is always delicious. He assured us we had made the right choice and would enjoy the stew. The stews arrived and were ‘hearty’ if being crammed with the contents of a tin of crab claws is your definition of hearty. The promised ‘rich tomato broth with chilli and garlic’ was a watered down version of what was clearly less than a cup of the original broth left at the bottom of the pot topped with water. It was tasteless – lacking in hint of either chilli, wine, garlic or herbs – having lived in Malta I can assure you I have a deep understanding of Med cooking. I guess we were lucky we didn’t have the salty brine of the crab claws as the broth. It was inedible and we were starving so we kept adding salt and pepper – we were beyond the point of returning the food which was a mistake in hindsight. We skipped dessert – had coffees and left. The meal came to nearly £100.00. This was an expensive lousy experience. We paid a generous tip – because they accommodated us without a reservation. Take aways from the experience: • The restaurant service on a Sunday evening at 19:00 should be as good as it is on a Friday at 19:00 • Being a local and having eaten there several times – it is my first choice for a ‘good’ meal – don’t abuse the luxury of local support. • Train your waitrons to clean tables, by wringing out the cloth and not dripping water on your patrons. • Waitrons (even under aged ones) should at least carry a wine opener, and understand that wine glasses should be produced when delivering wine. • Your chef should know better and never, ever assume he can cut costs by selling the dregs from his kitchen. • A poor dining experience costs you more than you think. We would have ordered dessert, and more importantly returned for a second meal in the next week – WE DIDN’T! I have a friend coming from Ireland in November – do I risk taking her to the Anchor?"
